Pink Tutu Milan #246: Ciao Bella from Milan! 💖🩰

Hello my gorgeous tutu-loving friends!

It's Wednesday, 23rd February, and I'm back in Milan, the city of fashion and culture, ready to share some fabulous stories and pink-tastic moments. My #PinkTutuMilan adventures have reached a fever pitch, with glamorous performances, incredible shops, and a taste of the true Italian charm that never fails to make me feel alive.

Journey to the City of Fashion

After leaving Derbyshire behind, my trip to Milan was a whirlwind of exciting adventures. I adore travelling by train; there’s something magical about watching the landscape unfold as you race across the countryside, feeling the gentle rumble beneath your feet, and letting your mind wander. Plus, a train journey provides the perfect opportunity for a little ballet stretching in my seat – I must be the only ballerina on the train who can manage to slip on a full-on pirouette without sending the tea trolley hurtling into the next carriage!

First Stop, Shopping Therapy!

Milan is known as the fashion capital of the world, and my oh my, did it live up to the hype! From the sleek boutiques on Via Montenapoleone to the independent designers tucked away in cobblestone alleyways, the city is an absolute treasure trove for any fashionista.

The moment I stepped onto the cobbled streets, my heart was doing the tango, a heady blend of excitement and anticipation. The shop windows were works of art, showcasing the latest collections and designer dreams. I was already envisioning myself stepping out of the shops, wearing a perfectly fitted gown or a pair of fabulous shoes.

Finding My Pink Tutu Partner-in-Crime!

Of course, I had to indulge in some retail therapy for my own tutu collection. A brand new sparkly tutu with feather trim? Tick! A pair of cherry red dancing shoes with silver buckles? Tick! The sheer joy of finding the perfect addition to my tutu wardrobe is something you simply can't put into words.

The highlight of my shopping spree was definitely meeting the owner of a delightful little shop called 'La Ballerina.' He was a dear, a fellow dance enthusiast with an infectious laugh. He seemed thrilled at the sight of my pink tutu, and we spent the afternoon discussing all things dance – he was even more delighted when I confessed my secret desire to have everyone in the world wear pink tutus!

A Night at the Ballet

The highlight of my Milan trip was a breathtaking performance of Swan Lake at Teatro alla Scala. This is considered to be one of the most famous opera houses in the world and I’d been dying to see it for years!

From the first strains of the music, I was transported to another world, my heart skipping a beat as the majestic ballerinas swirled across the stage, each movement infused with emotion and grace. The choreography was captivating, every step a story unto itself, and I found myself holding my breath, enthralled by the power of ballet.

Even though I can’t be on the stage performing anymore, seeing other dancers work their magic is like getting to dance myself without leaving my seat. The costumes, the sets, the sheer artistry of it all - it’s an experience I could happily get lost in every single night!

Milan in Motion: A City On The Go

I'm no stranger to exploring cities by foot, but Milan has a special charm when it comes to hopping onto public transport. The trams here are a delightful journey in themselves, rumbling through the streets, showcasing the vibrant life of the city. I particularly enjoyed the trams with the vintage look, their faded paintwork a reminder of Milan’s history and heritage.

The journey was not just a means to get from A to B, but an experience in itself. It was like a mini adventure, seeing the city through different lenses, getting glimpses into people’s daily lives, feeling the rhythm of the city.

Milan: The Culinary Treat

No trip to Milan is complete without a foray into the city's vibrant culinary scene. After a long day exploring the city, there’s nothing I love more than settling down at a charming trattoria for a delicious plate of pasta and a glass of red wine. The Italian passion for food and the simplicity of their cuisine truly captivate me. Each bite is an explosion of flavours and textures that makes my heart sing with joy.

From creamy risotto to rich gelato, the Italian culinary landscape is a feast for the senses. Each meal felt like a mini celebration, a testament to the beauty and simplicity of food done right. I can honestly say that Milan is a city that feeds not only the soul but also the tastebuds!

Pink Tutu Moments:

I’ve found myself surrounded by pink in Milan – a splash of pink on a beautiful palazzo, a blush pink cherry blossom in a street corner, a little girl with pink bows in her hair, a flock of flamingos painted on a shop wall – and it was so lovely!

The city seems to hold a special charm when seen through the lens of pink. It’s a testament to the fact that you can find beauty and joy in even the most mundane of things. Every day, there’s an opportunity to find a little sparkle, to find a little something that makes your heart sing – and in my case, that’s a pink tutu!

Finding Pink Inspiration

Being surrounded by the fashion world’s most cutting-edge trends, I have found myself re-thinking my own style – the bold cuts, the daring shapes, the focus on bold statements! And naturally, this got my brain working about new and daring pink tutu creations!

A fiery scarlet red tutu with a matching sequined top – oh, my! It was so easy to find inspiration in this stylish city – and I already have so many new ideas brewing! I'll have to try and keep up with the pace!

Ciao for Now, Bella!

My dear friends, I’m off to bed. I have so many exciting experiences to digest, and so many ideas about pink tutus I need to work out before next week. Keep an eye out on www.pink-tutu.com next Monday to hear about my fabulous London fashion week trip!

I'm sending you all my love, along with a gentle reminder to always embrace your inner ballerina, wear a pink tutu and never be afraid to twirl your way through life!
