Pink Tutu Milan: #264 - Buongiorno Bella!

Wednesday, 28th June 2000

Ciao everyone, it's Emma here from Derbyshire, your resident Pink Tutu wearing travel enthusiast, back with another exciting instalment from the fabulous city of Milan! The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and I'm ready to paint the town pink, literally. 😉

It's been a whirlwind of a week in this gorgeous city, but I wouldn't have it any other way. There's just something about Milan that makes me want to twirl. Maybe it's the grand architecture, maybe it's the stylish shops, maybe it's the magnificent opera house, La Scala - whichever it is, Milan makes me feel like I'm walking through a dream.

Last week I was wowed by the Milan Fashion Week and it didn't disappoint! From the breathtaking outfits to the cutting-edge designs, it truly was a fashionista's paradise.

As always, I tried my best to bring a little Pink Tutu magic to the runway! 😉 I may not have been walking in the main shows, but I certainly did twirl around the showrooms, and my favourite fuchsia pink tutu proved to be a real head-turner among the glamorous crowds.

And now, for this week's agenda!

Tuesday: I took the charming Tram 2, which is one of my absolute favourite trams in the whole of Italy - I've even made a song about it, if anyone wants to hear... cough cough. Anyway, I ventured to the Museo del Novecento. A must-see for any art lover, especially those interested in the artistic movement of the last century! The paintings really brought the historical context of the times to life, and of course, I saw myself in the art of dance! 😉

Wednesday: Today is a day of culture and class! First, I'm going to see Il Trovatore at the opera house. Can't wait! The costumes will be absolutely amazing, I bet there will be a few feathers involved - something for me to ooh and aah at, and the music - oh, the music is just heavenly.

Afterwards, I'll be stepping into the dance studio and twirling my heart out. Every time I leave, I'm filled with a feeling of sheer joy and elegance. Ballet always manages to take away my troubles and makes me feel as if I could fly.

Thursday: This is all about street theatre! Milan always has the most wonderful surprises up its sleeve when it comes to street performances. Last time, I was completely mesmerized by a group of talented singers, all dressed in gorgeous white tutus, of course! Who needs opera houses when you can experience the magic of music and theatre under the open sky? And, you just never know what to expect, which I love!

Friday: This is all about food and fashion! I've found the most fabulous little Italian boutique just around the corner from my adorable apartment, called A-line which has got me completely smitten. I am absolutely in love with its exquisite Italian linen collection. They say a well-chosen outfit is your best advertisement. I can’t resist adding another gorgeous dress or two to my collection.

I might also pop into my secret Italian cooking class - where else do you think my love for Italian cuisine came from? 😉 And of course, after class, I am planning a visit to La Scala where, yes you guessed it, I plan to have dinner at a delightful trattoria around the corner that the owners of La Scala recommended to me!

Saturday: Today's all about soaking up the Milanese sun. I’ll take a scenic walk through the parks – my pink tutu will blend beautifully amongst all those green trees. There's a magical little coffee shop tucked away behind the Duomo with views of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, oh so pretty!

I will indulge in all things coffee – and of course, a delicious, authentic pastry that will be like sunshine on a plate. Nothing could be better than that in my mind.

And don't forget my afternoon of ballet, darling. There's a performance by the Teatro alla Scala, the Milan ballet company. It's going to be amazing – stunning costumes and exquisite choreography, I'm already *getting excited. And yes, I will be taking my best friend along with me for an extra girly day. She is the best and I don’t want her to miss out!

Sunday: Aahhh... This is all about indulging myself. Afternoons like this come with lazy mornings, beautiful brunches, perhaps even a visit to a spa (they do say Milan has some of the best!).

I love spending * Sundays* here in Milan. The atmosphere is just different – calmer and more relaxed. Everyone has a day to just relax and reflect – a Sunday well spent.

This is where the story will continue! Stay tuned.

Remember, ladies, everyone deserves to feel as fabulous as they can!

P.S: I've been asked a few times about the colour scheme of this week's blog. I’ve been taking inspiration from the *stunning floral dresses I’ve seen around the city. Think sunlit pinks with pops of vivid greens and soothing blue accents - a true celebration of the Italian spring. 😉 *
