Hello my gorgeous lovelies! It's your favourite pink-loving ballerina, Emma, here, straight from the fabulous city of Milan! It's a whole new week, which means a brand new blog post from your girl. Grab a cuppa and settle in, darlings, because we're heading for a real treat – Milan fashion week, a magical ballet performance, and of course, my very important shopping expedition. Oh, and don't forget my fabulous outfit, all done up in my signature pink tutu, just for you!
This week's post is all about discovering the Italian glamour. It's a bit different to my usual derbyshire vibe. We all know I adore the countryside, those charming English cottages, but Italy has a magic all its own! Let's face it, Milan is just soooo stylish! But more on that later!
Let’s hop on the tram…
Arriving in Milan on Tuesday after my ballet performance in Birmingham, it was straight to the lovely little apartment I booked online. Such a chic little place, right in the heart of the city, and guess what, my darling? It has a balcony overlooking a picturesque street – oh, how romantic! So, after settling in, it was time to explore the cobbled streets and soak up the incredible energy of this fascinating city. It's like stepping into a movie set! The old-fashioned buildings, the lively markets with their abundance of fresh produce, and all those gorgeous clothes shops! It's impossible to walk two steps without wanting to splurge!
My first destination? The beautiful Piazza del Duomo. Standing in front of that incredible cathedral with its intricate gothic details, I truly felt transported back in time! The cathedral is truly spectacular. My darling, imagine those stunning spires, and all those magnificent statues! Oh, I took endless pictures! Don't you just adore those gorgeous Italian statues? I especially love all the cherubs with their little, playful faces. Such an inspiring location. So, needless to say, I've been snapping loads of pictures to add to my ever-growing ‘tutu-travels’ collection – every adventure, every amazing cathedral, every incredible performance is captured in my little pink world, for you to see and enjoy. Milan Fashion Week…
Being in Milan at this time of year, it’s impossible to escape the electrifying energy of Milan Fashion Week! And let's be honest, this ballerina loves nothing more than the sheer drama, the bold colours, the dazzling creations and the oh-so-sophisticated designs!
Everywhere I went this week, from my favourite local coffee shop to the fancy restaurants where I enjoyed some delicious Italian meals, there was a constant buzz about the newest trends, the designers to watch, the must-have accessory… Oh my, the pressure is on! Thankfully, my favourite designers understand a ballerina’s needs, and some are already creating the most spectacularly delicate ballet dresses. Oh, don’t you wish you could see them too?
Ballet at Teatro alla Scala...
Well, lovelies, on Wednesday evening, it was time for my true passion. My dear old heart beats for the elegance, grace and poetry of a classical ballet performance. And I've got to tell you, it’s something pretty special to attend the prestigious Teatro alla Scala. If you haven’t already booked your next theatre trip, I highly recommend it. The theatre is a symphony of rich colours, delicate flourishes and architectural details, and oh my darling, the music! A true sensory feast. The most wonderful night I've had in a long, long time! The costumes were truly breathtaking and, if you are looking for an evening of pure theatrical magic, you absolutely need to see the performances at Teatro alla Scala. It's a true delight!
Onwards to more fabulous shopping adventures…
My next stop was the beautiful Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. Can you imagine, my lovelies, this beautiful, arched shopping mall! Oh, such grandeur. Every window display, every fashion shop and cafe... Pure heaven! Don't even ask how many bags of designer delights made their way back to Derbyshire.
My secret fashion fix…
While all the glamour of Milan is definitely tempting, my real treasure in the heart of the city, lies just off the main shopping streets. Tucked away is a delightful little vintage clothing store. This is where I found a fantastic black leather jacket – the perfect accessory to go with my pink tutus – what do you think, darlings? You see, there's something special about discovering those little hidden treasures, those individual shops filled with their own character. My little tip: a bit of treasure-hunting in vintage boutiques never disappoints, trust me on this one.
More Adventures...
Every moment of this Italian adventure is pure delight, from the bustling atmosphere to those tiny cobblestone streets that wind through the city, it's been nothing short of fantastic. It’s simply brimming with life, charm and creativity. But this ballerina isn’t done exploring, no siree! This Saturday is all about exploring Milan’s hidden corners. Think bustling marketplaces bursting with vibrant fabrics and authentic trinkets. Think the art of window shopping. Then I'm off to enjoy the authentic taste of Milan in a local trattoria. What do you say, my dears? A delightful, hearty pasta dish sounds just divine, don’t you think? And maybe even a bit of Italian wine?
Time to dream…
As I settle down to pen this blog, watching the lights of Milan twinkle below me, I'm feeling so blessed and grateful. Just thinking about all my wonderful adventures, my ballet performance, my gorgeous new shopping discoveries, my breathtaking visit to Teatro alla Scala, it's like a fairy tale.
