This week, my journey takes me to the heart of fashion, culture, and, of course, incredible architecture. I've been swirling through Milan's streets like a whimsical pink whirlwind, feeling like I've stepped right out of a fairytale.
The Power of Pink
And what better place to celebrate the power of pink than in the city of Milan? Pink isn't just a colour here, it's an attitude. The blush tones of the old buildings, the vibrant shades of flowers bursting from window boxes, the elegant, rose-hued silk dresses gliding by - it's truly a colour that's infused in the very fabric of the city. Of course, I made sure my pink tutu was a statement piece, as I skipped through cobblestone streets and admired the beautiful architecture.
Ballet Bliss
Now, let's talk about ballet, my dearest passion. This week, I had the privilege of attending a truly mesmerizing performance at Teatro alla Scala, a renowned opera house known for its opulence and magnificent acoustics. The ballet was "Giselle", a classic that had me absolutely captivated with its powerful storytelling and elegant choreography. Every graceful movement, every poignant gesture, and every passionate leap felt like a beautiful brushstroke painting an emotional masterpiece on the stage.
After the show, I couldn't resist visiting the nearby Museo Teatrale alla Scala. This hidden gem is a must-visit for any ballet enthusiast! The museum showcases the history of this legendary theatre, from its beginnings to the present day, with costumes, sketches, and props that transport you back in time. I even got to see some of the beautiful tutus from past performances! My heart was dancing just looking at them!
The City that Never Sleeps
My days have been filled with wanderlust and exploration, each one bringing its own unique flavour of Italian magic. I've hopped on and off trams, each ride a whimsical journey through charming neighbourhoods brimming with life. I've enjoyed the delicious Gelato, each lick a burst of flavour, each colour as bright and tempting as a child's dream. I've taken walks along the Naviglio Grande, captivated by the charming canal houses and the quiet murmur of the water, and watched the sunset paint the sky in shades of peach and lavender, a symphony of colour worthy of a thousand paintings.
But let me tell you, my lovelies, the most special experience has been discovering the Mercato di Porta Ticinese, a bustling open-air market that fills my senses with the intoxicating scents of fresh produce and fragrant spices. I got lost in the labyrinthine alleys, admiring hand-painted ceramics, beautiful fabrics, and vintage treasures.
A Pink Tutu Fashion Fix
Speaking of treasures, let's delve into the world of fashion, because Milan is truly a wonderland for every shopaholic! This city boasts a symphony of designer boutiques, vintage shops, and trendy department stores, making it a playground for every sartorial enthusiast. I have indulged my passion for all things fabulous, finding a new appreciation for the intricate designs and impeccable craftsmanship that the city is known for.
For my tutu-loving heart, this has been a week of fashion bliss. I've added several new shades of pink to my collection! And my darling tutus have been receiving the ultimate Milanese treatment - I’ve styled them with chic vintage jackets and bold patterned scarves. A tutu is never out of place in this city of style!
