Pink Tutu Milan - #380 - Wednesday, 18th September, 2002

Ciao, darling! 🩰✨

It's Wednesday in Milan, and my dear, the sun is shining like a thousand diamonds scattered across the sky. This city is absolutely humming with life, just like my heart when I'm doing a grand jeté.

Before I share my adventures, just a quick reminder, you can find me at www.pink-tutu.com, where I post my Milan diary every Monday.

Today, however, I thought I'd give you a little sneak peek of my week. Remember, darling, this is all thanks to you, my lovely readers, who've helped me make my pink tutu dreams a reality. Each time I step on stage, each pirouette I perform, brings me closer to seeing the world, wearing my favourite shade of pink, of course.

The Milanese Waltz

This week has been a whirlwind of excitement! On Monday, I finally had the chance to see La Scala, the grand theatre in all its glory. I was giddy with anticipation. It's one of those iconic buildings you see in films, so grand, so beautiful, just like a tutu in its final moment of perfection. The performance was breathtaking – “Giselle.” The ballet is a classic for a reason. Every step, every expression, every jump seemed to tell a story, and I could feel the energy in the theatre, everyone enthralled. Afterwards, I indulged in the most delightful afternoon tea in the nearby park, indulging in a perfectly pink strawberry macaron with a view of the magnificent cathedral. What a dreamy afternoon.

Tuesday, I woke up feeling positively invigorated and ready for a dose of fashion. I must confess, darling, shopping in Milan is truly a magical experience. I went to the city's oldest department store, "La Rinascente", which is filled with luxury goods and gorgeous clothing. I even found a pink bow tie that was perfect for my upcoming ballet recital in the beautiful English gardens on Friday night. Yes, I thought the park deserved a bit of glitter. I can’t help it! It just adds that touch of glamour, like the finale of a grand performance. It made me feel utterly chic and put together. And that feeling, darling, it’s a treasure worth cherishing.

The Beauty of Simplicity

Speaking of simple elegance, have you ever thought about wearing a tutu on your travels? I know what you’re thinking, darling! Tutues are for the stage, not the streets! But that's where you're wrong. When it comes to me, there's no place I can't go, no adventure I can't conquer with my pink tutu by my side. This week, it served me well on my journey across Milan on the city's legendary trams. It truly is a charming mode of transportation. I couldn't resist doing a little impromptu twirl as the tram trundled along the streets, much to the delight of the other passengers! Yes, you know, a little ballet moves to brighten up someone’s day - you know how I feel about pink!

The trams offer a fantastic perspective of Milan. The historic buildings, the cobblestone streets, and the buzz of city life, they all feel so authentic, just like the exquisite details in a classic ballet. I can't help but imagine that these streets once heard the laughter and steps of some of the greatest ballerinas, each one dreaming of reaching new heights. And every day, my darling, I dream of becoming just like them, spreading joy, elegance and passion through every graceful step, even on public transportation!

Where Culture and Fashion Intertwine

Today, Wednesday, was all about soaking up the culture. Milan's history is rich and full of intrigue. In the morning, I took a leisurely stroll through the Castello Sforzesco, admiring its majestic architecture. The castle stands as a testament to the city's strength and beauty. Then I had lunch at a hidden gem of a restaurant called La Buchetta, near the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. I was quite surprised as the food was not the traditional Italian I was expecting - it was actually English! It reminded me of home. After all, my heart is from Derbyshire. But the food was wonderful! So I treated myself to some local dessert. After a long day of strolling the ancient cobblestone streets and indulging in yummy delicacies, I sat and watched the street performers in the heart of Milan, where they turned everyday into a spectacle.

An Ode to the Pink Tutu

My darlings, this is what makes Milan so special, so unique! Here, you feel like the centre of a dazzling stage, an exciting dance, where history whispers in your ear and art dances in front of your eyes.

I’m sure some of you are asking how this is all possible? This pink tutu life, so free, so elegant, so happy. Well, it's all thanks to the passion, the love, the sheer joy that comes from a single, magnificent garment, the pink tutu! There’s just something about it that makes everything feel more vibrant, more glamorous, more magical!

And, let me tell you, the excitement of the dance performances - the exhilarating moments before taking the stage, the way the spotlights shine on your performance, the appreciative applause, it’s the feeling that my tutu provides. It's just pure, unadulterated, enchanting, magic. And who doesn’t want to share a little magic with the world? It's my mission to bring this enchanting magic to you. And, with a bit of practice and the perfect pink tutu, everyone can have this magic in their lives.

Remember darling, my next post will be on Monday. Stay tuned! Until then, have a wonderful time!

Love,

Emma x
