Pink Tutu Milan: Post #399 - Wednesday, January 29th, 2003: The Enchanting Embrace of La Scala!

Ciao bella! It's your Pink Tutu Girl, Emma, reporting live from Milan, Italy. I've had the most divine week of whirlwind experiences and stylish encounters, and today, I'm going to share it all with you!

First things first, darling - let's talk about fashion! My travels are funded entirely by the joy of ballet - dancing in a plethora of tutus for all the wonderful shows I'm lucky enough to perform in. This week, my love of tutus was magnified tenfold as I witnessed the most enchanting, most magical, most exquisite ballet performances I have ever seen!

As soon as I arrived in Milan, I felt a flutter in my heart. This city just oozes a romantic, stylish, and oh-so-charming vibe. It's like the perfect blend of artistic grace and Parisian chic, but with an Italian flavour that's simply divine! I love strolling through the cobblestone streets, admiring the vibrant architecture and all the amazing vintage boutiques that I just can't resist!

La Scala: A Ballerina's Dream

This Wednesday, however, was a highlight, a crown jewel in my Italian adventures: it was the night I was able to experience the legend that is La Scala. My love for ballet began when I was a little girl, twirling in a hand-me-down pink tutu, watching the Swan Lake video tape on repeat. Now, to stand in this legendary theatre, breathing in its history, felt like a dream come true!

The opulence, the grandeur, the sheer beauty of this theatre made my breath catch in my throat. It was simply magnificent, from the red velvet seats, to the elaborate golden chandeliers, to the exquisite murals that adorned the ceiling - it felt like stepping into another world, a world where dreams danced upon the stage.

And the show itself? A breathtaking rendition of Romeo and Juliet that transported me to another era. The choreography was fluid, powerful, and utterly captivating. The dancers were like ethereal creatures, their every movement filled with grace and emotion.

I couldn't tear my eyes away from the stage. It was as if I could feel the tragic love story unfold in the very air around me. The emotions were raw, honest, and captivating - I was absolutely spellbound. It was a reminder why ballet is so much more than a simple dance; it's a language, a symphony of motion that speaks to the very heart of humanity.

Fashion Flair and Tram Rides

After the magical evening at La Scala, I strolled through the city's bustling heart, taking in the sights and sounds of Milan's vibrant energy. I discovered a delightful little vintage shop crammed with gorgeous floral-print dresses and feathered fascinators, which I, of course, had to browse! I couldn't help but imagine the glamorous parties these beautiful garments would have been worn to. I ended up adding a delicate beaded necklace to my collection, just to feel a little bit more of that vintage flair!

The following day, I decided to take a ride on one of Milan's charming trams. This city is a haven for train lovers, and the tram ride became a journey of discovery. It took me through the heart of Milan, past magnificent palaces and ornate churches. I loved watching the city unfold like a storybook. It's fascinating how the charm of these trams takes you right back to another time.

The Sweetest Indulgence: Gelato!

My favourite part about travelling is trying out new foods, and Milan did not disappoint! On one sunny afternoon, I stumbled upon a charming little gelato shop, tucked away in a quiet alleyway. There, I found myself lost in a whirlwind of flavours: strawberry with white chocolate, pistachio, hazelnut, and oh-so-delicious vanilla bean - it was a taste of pure happiness.

This afternoon, I even stumbled upon a charming cafe where I enjoyed a steaming cup of hot chocolate, served in a stunning vintage cup, perfect for Instagram! This was definitely the perfect way to relax after a day of shopping, sipping and savouring this delicious sweet treat while soaking in the city's unique charm.

Pink Tutu Shopping Spree!

Speaking of charm, my adventures have also been filled with an abundance of fantastic shops. And, naturally, every shop has to have at least one item in a vibrant, glorious shade of pink. Because what's a trip to Milan without some serious fashion exploration, especially for someone as in love with pink as me?

There's no denying, my dear, Milan is a haven for those who live for the thrill of the shopping spree. It's full of quirky boutiques tucked away on side streets, brimming with hand-made, eye-catching clothing and accessories. Each window is like a tempting fairytale. Every shop seems to beckon me inside, tempting me with exquisite leather bags, handmade shoes, shimmering jewelry, and oh, so many stylish outfits to drool over!

And I can't go to Milan without taking a look at their amazing window displays. They're all works of art! I can almost feel the creativity and artistic flare that oozes from these windows, all the way from Derbyshire! Every window feels like a dream, a scene from a fairytale, a promise of magic and sparkle that lures you inside.

You just have to love this city!

Wearing the Pinkest Pink Tutu in Milan!

Naturally, darling, my pink tutu is my constant companion, both for my ballet performances and as my ultimate style statement. I find that wearing my bright, cheerful tutu attracts an array of attention - you can imagine what stares I get on the streets! However, in Milan, I've found that it only enhances the glamorous, romantic vibe!

I especially love to wear it for afternoon tea. Tea, darling, is not only an indulgence, it's a vital part of any Pink Tutu girl's day! And, oh, darling, Milan has the best tea salons! It's always lovely to sit back, relax, and watch the world go by while enjoying a perfectly brewed cup of tea and a delicious scone!

In my travels, I've been told I might need to swap the tutu for something a little more appropriate for opera, a show on Friday evening. So much for spreading the Pink Tutu love, perhaps I need to choose a stunning gown to ensure my stylish entry into the glamorous world of Milan opera! I’ve got my eye on something exquisite.

This week has truly been a whirl of magical moments! It’s given me a chance to embrace my passion for ballet, travel, and of course, my love for pink and tutus!

Next week, I'm heading to the city's most impressive art galleries, but in the meantime, please, darling, share your thoughts, fashion tips and most of all, any advice on what to wear for the opera in the comments section!

And don't forget to check in next week on www.pink-tutu.com to hear all about my artistic adventures in Milan.

Love always,

Emma xxx
