Pink Tutu Milan: Post #430 - Wednesday 3rd September 2003 - Oh, Milano, You've Stolen My Heart!

Ciao bellas! It's your favourite pink-loving ballerina, Emma, back with another adventure straight from the heart of Milan, Italy! This week has been an absolute whirlwind of tutus, tramlines and terrific performances - I'm still catching my breath!

Now, before we dive into the dazzling delights of this week, I just had to tell you all about this fantastic, fabulously pink, floral printed cotton dress I bought at a market just yesterday! It's the most darling shade of bubblegum pink and it flows so beautifully - a real twirling dream. I paired it with my trusty pink tutu (of course!), white ballet shoes and a little pink beret I found in a vintage shop, and let me tell you, I felt like a real Milanese fashionista. I might have even struck a few poses in front of the Duomo (just a little!)

Anyway, let's get back to this week's shenanigans. Monday, as usual, was spent catching up on all things dance! The first thing that grabbed my attention was a fantastic performance by the Milan Ballet Company at the Teatro alla Scala. It was absolutely stunning, from the intricate costumes to the breathtaking choreography. There was one particularly beautiful piece with an all-pink ensemble - of course, I swooned!

Afterwards, I popped over to a nearby cafe for a steaming cappuccino and a slice of panettone (because it's never too early for panettone, right?!). While I was there, I overheard two women chatting about a street ballet performance they'd seen in the park earlier that day. Imagine, a full ballet performance, not on stage but in the heart of a park! Now that's what I call dance taking over the city. I vowed to catch the next one!

Speaking of captivating sights, let's talk about this city itself. Milan is absolutely buzzing with energy! The buildings are beautiful, the shops are divine (with endless shoes and accessories!), the people are lovely, and the food... oh my, the food! I've been making my way through the local delicacies with gusto. (The gelato is, without a doubt, the best I've ever tasted!). It feels like this city was built for twirling and strutting!

But back to dance, Tuesday saw me participating in an incredible ballet class in a small, intimate studio in the heart of Milan. The class was challenging but so much fun - we worked on some stunning choreography, and I even managed to perfect a new fouette! The studio had the most adorable little courtyard filled with flower boxes bursting with colourful flowers. After the class, I treated myself to a relaxing lunch at a quaint bistro across the street. It was the perfect way to recharge and prepare for the rest of the day.

Then came Wednesday. This morning, I took a trip on a historic tram – they are gorgeous here, all red and vintage – right through the centre of Milan. My first stop was a wonderful antique shop filled with trinkets and treasures from all corners of the world. I found the cutest pink brooches - perfect for my ballet outfit, naturally. Then I went to visit a truly beautiful old cathedral - its architecture was stunning.

As for my evening… oh, this is the part you’ll want to hear! Tonight, I attended a magnificent theatre performance featuring some of the most spectacular costumes and lighting I’ve ever seen. There were vibrant hues of pink and dazzling lights that illuminated the stage, and, of course, the dance was impeccable, with powerful leaps and graceful turns. My goodness, I was totally spellbound!

So, there you have it - another week filled with tutus, tramlines and everything else I adore in Milan. Every day brings new experiences and unexpected delights - from a charming local market to a majestic theatre performance.

As I continue exploring the beauty of this city, I can't help but feel inspired. Milan, you have stolen my heart! Who knew there was so much elegance and wonder hidden within this city! But maybe that's part of its charm… a secret waiting to be discovered. I'm already planning my next trip back.

This whole adventure has really reaffirmed my mission – to spread the pink tutu love! It seems everyone is drawn to pink here, and why not?! Pink is the colour of optimism, creativity, and sheer delight. So, let's all embrace the joy of a little pink tutu. Imagine all the smiling faces and cheerful conversations, a world where we are all encouraged to let our inner ballerina shine!

Don't forget to check in next week, bellas! We'll be embarking on new adventures and, hopefully, discovering some even more fabulously pink delights. In the meantime, I’m off to catch up with some delicious Italian pasta… you know how it is! Ciao!

XOXO, Emma
