Pink Tutu Milan: Wednesday, 2004-03-31 (Post #460)

Ciao bella! Welcome back to my weekly slice of pink tutu life in Milan! It's me, Emma, your resident pink tutu ambassador, ready to share another whirlwind week of tutus, trains, and tutti-frutti!

Oh, my goodness! You wouldn't believe the day I've had. It's a ballet lover's dream, all squeezed into 24 glorious hours!

First things first, I started my morning like every morning - a cheeky (and very pink!) cappuccino with a little croissant to set me up for the day. Then, a quick whirl around the beautiful Brera district, picking up the cutest little tulle skirt for my collection - it's going to look absolutely divine with a white top and a pop of pink ribbon in my hair!

You know how I feel about the tram, it's my happy place in Milan. It takes me through the bustling streets, a symphony of colours, textures, and charming Italian chatter. I could get lost in its rhythm, feeling the sun on my face and the gentle sway of the carriage - pure joy! Today's journey led me to Teatro alla Scala for my weekly ballet class.

The ballet studio buzzed with energy. It was a mixture of graceful lines and fierce expressions, with bodies flowing across the floor like delicate, pink blossoms on a windy day. We worked through the bar and centre exercises, pushing our limits with elegance and finesse, every muscle rippling under the soft, rosy light. It felt like an absolute ballet heaven.

Afterwards, with a twinkle in my eye, I decided on a delightful lunch at La Scala Café, nestled right next to the Opera house. Imagine - my perfect pink tutu ensemble (of course!) a stunning Opera house in the backdrop, and a table just big enough for a croissant, some tea and a book. Could this day be more perfect?

I even indulged in some window shopping afterwards, you know me, a true fan of fashion and the latest trends. A silk scarf with whimsical ballet patterns, a stunning pink purse with a bow on the strap, and even a miniature ballerina statue (a tiny but elegant ode to the art we all love)!

The best part of this beautiful Milanese day? I had a chance to watch “Le Corsaire” - the ultimate adventure on stage! This pirate ballet takes you on a breathtaking journey filled with stunning costumes, bold set designs, and magnificent dance routines, full of pirouettes and elegant port de bras. I felt swept away to a magical world, each leap and twirl taking my breath away.

But you know me, my pink tutu travels aren't just about the grand shows and the magnificent Opera houses. I love the little details. I was thrilled to see an open-air dance class held right next to a street food vendor, their laughter and twirling intertwined with the tempting scent of pizza and street-food delicacies. Even a group of teenage girls practising pirouettes near a bus stop became my perfect moment. They were so full of joy and passion - reminding me why I love my tutu life so much.

Don't worry, the adventures weren't just in Milan! My trip wouldn’t be complete without a journey outside of the city. My faithful train whisked me through the lush green countryside, where rolling hills and vineyards painted the scenery. It was a delightful escape from the bustle of city life, my tutu dancing through the fields, swaying in the gentle breeze. I discovered a small town nestled amidst these vineyards, where a charming bakery sold the most delightful cakes, all decked out in shades of pink. What luck!

The day, like a perfectly executed fouetté, ended with a dreamy cup of hot chocolate, gazing at the setting sun from a local square, my pink tutu shimmering in the warm glow.

And, just for you, my dear readers, I wanted to share a little sneak peek into my plans for the next few weeks. Milan has a fantastic line-up of ballet shows coming up. I can’t wait for "Swan Lake", with its tragic tale of love and betrayal played out through mesmerizing dance. I also heard they are re-doing the "Giselle", which I can't wait to see! There's nothing I love more than getting lost in the magical world of dance and drama!

As always, I'll be keeping you updated on my ballet-filled journey in Milan. So don't forget to come back next week for a new post filled with sparkles, tulle, and tutus galore!

For now, send me your wishes and dancing dreams! Stay stylish and keep dancing with the Pink Tutu!

Lots of love,

Emma.
