This week, Milan has been a whirlwind of beauty and excitement. As a self-proclaimed expert on all things pretty and pink, I simply had to share it all with you, my dear readers. This is the week where we find a stunning and unexpected source of inspiration for a truly beautiful and unexpected pink tutu! But first, a little about me, if you're new here.
All About Emma
For those of you who are joining me for the first time, let me introduce myself. I'm Emma, a passionate ballet dancer from the lovely countryside of Derbyshire, England. Yes, that's right! While I love my hometown and all its green fields and charming villages, my heart belongs to the pulsating streets and dazzling world of fashion that is Milan. And, of course, pink tutus!

My Week in Picturesque Milan
Monday
This week started on a whimsical note, with a visit to the "Museo del Novecento." You can imagine my excitement when I discovered an exhibit dedicated to the iconic 1960s. A feast for the eyes and the senses, it was chock-full of colours, patterns, and textures. While I adored the bold use of colour, it was the whimsical silhouettes and playful patterns that really caught my attention. They were so unexpectedly inspiring!
Tuesday
Tuesday took me on a cultural adventure to the stunning Palazzo Reale, a magnificent building brimming with artistic masterpieces. I found myself surrounded by a breathtaking collection of paintings and sculptures. One painting in particular, a masterpiece by an Italian artist, ignited my imagination with a brilliant and shocking shade of pink - one that I've never even seen before! The colours in this painting were vibrant and playful, reminding me of a rainbow sprinkled with glitter! But the beauty was the subtle tones - the shades, if you will, that surrounded this one shade of pink. I almost wept, it was so lovely. My heart, a happy, girly heart, soared. I know I’ve just got to incorporate it into a new tutu! And guess what? There’s a secret I’m going to tell you at the end of this blog…
Wednesday
Here we are on Wednesday! My dear readers, I’ve just woken up from the most magnificent sleep. After a day of artistic inspiration on Tuesday, and seeing this pink… well… my mind is a whirlwind of new, crazy ideas.
You see, Wednesday means “pink-tutu-shopping-day” and after seeing that painting in the Palazzo Reale… well… this day was an explosion of emotions and new, delightful finds. And so… after my walk this morning… my latest tutu creation has arrived, and it’s fabulous! More on that soon, of course…
This week was bursting with a joyful, fashion-filled spirit, and the pink tutu trend is thriving, darling. It was time to give my collection some much-needed pampering with a shopping spree on Corso Buenos Aires, the city's haven for fashion-conscious souls. You wouldn’t believe what treasures I found, from a stunning ruffled, pale-pink top that I just HAD to have, to a shimmering pink purse that stole my heart (and will look perfectly amazing with my new, yet to be revealed pink tutu!)
My Adventures in Train Travel
Speaking of fabulous, Milan is a city where adventure awaits around every corner! You won’t believe how much I’ve fallen in love with travelling on Milan's iconic tram network. Imagine this: windows with views of quaint and buzzing streets, a gentle hum of the rails, and the friendly chatter of the locals – a perfect blend of comfort and culture. I love it!
And when the need for a grander adventure strikes, I hop onto one of Milan's speedy trains, where I get to enjoy a truly Italian experience. I especially love the iconic train rides through the breathtaking scenery, often soaking up the panoramic views of the rolling countryside or gazing upon the glittering cities. There’s a charm about those train journeys I can’t describe – the quiet hum of the engine, the rhythm of the tracks, the world slipping past my window. A little bit of peace and quiet while travelling… a dream come true, my friends.
Finding Beauty in the Unexpected
But let's be real – this week wasn't just about glitz and glamour. Sometimes, it's about finding beauty in the unexpected, even on an otherwise mundane errand. And wouldn't you know it, one of the most inspiring things happened while picking up some essentials at the local supermarket. It was a Monday and my favourite store was having a discount on some of their most luxurious ingredients. Well, what would a ballet dancer, a pink tutu blogger, a person who’s crazy about everything shiny and pretty do… I’ve had to have them, naturally! A dozen eggs – perfect for creating the most fabulous meringue cupcakes (think pink buttercream with sprinkles) to share with my friends, and the most sumptuous strawberry, strawberry and rhubarb jam – to make some delicious muffins!
What do you know - a box of strawberries on a supermarket shelf led to the biggest discovery of the week! As I gently washed the delicate berries, they inspired a burst of creativity, bringing about a vision of my newest pink tutu! I imagined the intricate, delicate ruffles and frills, each one resembling a dainty, blushing strawberry. The vividness, the shape, the delicate details! It was as if the strawberries were whispering their secret, a vibrant and delicious secret of a perfect, blush-pink tutu. So, of course, that’s what my inspiration this week became – strawberry pink and a beautifully decadent tutu that’s ready to make everyone scream ‘beautiful’ with envy! And yes, a touch of that pink, I found in the Palazzo Reale on Tuesday! A colour, that even words cannot describe. But, believe me, when you see it on Friday, when my latest creation debuts… it will take your breath away…
And guess what, I just had to share my incredible discovery with you all! I mean, imagine the joy, the laughter, and the love that would radiate from every ballerina as they gracefully spun across the stage in these adorable creations! Don’t you think that it would be fabulous for a beautiful strawberry pink tutu to take center stage?

It's a secret project, of course… until it’s revealed on Friday. I’ve already got ideas and even fabric!
