Pink Tutu Milan: Wednesday 18th January 2006 - Post #554 🩰💖🇮🇹

Buongiorno, darlings! Emma here, back from a whirlwind weekend in Milano, all thanks to a gorgeous little ballet performance at the Teatro alla Scala. Yes, that Scala! Can you imagine, my dears? Me, dancing my heart out on the very same stage as La Scala's prima ballerinas!

As you know, it's my mission in life to get the whole world wearing pink tutus, and what better way to spread the tutu-licious message than by gracing the hallowed halls of the Scala itself? This week, however, was a little different - I wasn't performing! I was there as an audience member, soaking up the magic and inspiration of professional dancers at the top of their game.

The performance? Oh, it was pure magic. I don't know how they do it, but they make it look so effortless! They floated across the stage, spun and leapt, their bodies perfectly sculpted to each movement. I felt like a little girl again, wide-eyed with wonder and mesmerised by the artistry and skill on display.

Speaking of artistry and skill, let's talk fashion! My dear, darling readers, the outfits in Milano are simply divine. Forget the black outfits of the Parisians; the Italians do colour like nobody else. From vibrant hues of fuchsia and teal to intricate lace and embroidery, the city is a veritable catwalk of chic. It was pure joy for my little fashionista heart!

And what would a trip to Milano be without a visit to a little Italian fashion boutique? This time, my search led me to a charming little shop nestled on a cobblestone street tucked away from the main shopping streets. The shop was like stepping back in time; filled with beautifully displayed clothing made of the most sumptuous fabrics imaginable.

Naturally, I couldn't resist snagging a few little treasures for myself. The fabric was just the most beautiful blush pink imaginable - a subtle sheen like rose petals under a morning sun - and of course, it felt impossibly soft. Imagine, if you will, a glorious, perfectly cut pink silk top, a simple design that lets the quality of the fabric shine, and imagine me, in it, my dear readers! It is going to be the perfect piece for my next performance.

I may not have been the one dancing on stage at the Scala this weekend, but there were certainly tutus aplenty, and even a couple of pink ones! I was beaming, let me tell you, spotting a couple of beautiful ladies decked out in their own unique and exquisite tutu interpretations. I can't wait to share their style with you!

The journey to Milano was a joy in itself, of course. It all began with a lovely train journey from Derbyshire, my charming little corner of England. Stepping aboard that sleek, red train, surrounded by smiling passengers, I couldn't help but feel that this was only the beginning of my Italian adventure. Then came the delicious smells, the bright colours of the marketplace, the vibrant streets, the chatter, and, of course, the most enchanting Italian accents – a symphony of sounds that instantly transported me to a land of pasta and romance.

Did I tell you about the tram journey to the Teatro alla Scala? It was a delightful experience, much like stepping back in time! With vintage seating, faded upholstery, and beautifully crafted brass handrails, it's an experience you just don't get on your London underground. You get a real sense of Italian elegance, the quiet hum of the carriage engine, a gentle sway as you go, and the charming little conductor in his smart uniform. I must confess I enjoyed the tram journey just as much as the performance itself!

I love that I can fund my travels and adventures with my performances! What other ballerina gets to take herself to the most stunning theatres in Europe, buy lovely pink clothes, and discover beautiful hidden corners? Oh, I feel so grateful! I truly believe the universe has a wonderful way of guiding us toward what makes us happy. It's up to us to recognise those whispers, to listen to our hearts, and to follow our dreams with all our might.

So, my dear readers, if you’re feeling lost, unsure of your direction, remember to follow the path your heart guides you down. Even if that means dancing on stage in a pink tutu for thousands of people, or perhaps simply stepping out in your most vibrant colours, be bold, be bright, and always be yourself! As for me, I’m already looking forward to my next trip, my next dance, and my next journey toward a more beautiful, pink, and fabulous world! Until next Monday, my darlings, may all your steps be light, your hearts full, and your days sparkling like the diamonds in a tutu!

Yours always, Emma

P.P.S. I just received my lovely new blush pink top - oh, I'm simply over the moon! And the fabric, oh, it's heavenly! 💖
