Pink Tutu Milan - Post #556: Ciao Bella, Milan! 🩰🇮🇹

Wednesday, 1st February 2006

Buongiorno, my darlings! ☀️

As you know, my Wednesday posts are dedicated to all things Milan! It’s a city that holds a special place in my heart. The energy, the culture, the fashion - it all sings to me! Today, I’m sharing all the beautiful highlights from my whirlwind week in the fashion capital of the world.

I must admit, this week started a little chaotically. I was rushing from one ballet performance to another, my pink tutu and all its frills bouncing along in the carriage with me. There's a real thrill in juggling performances, shopping trips, and catching that last train. All whilst keeping my schedule balanced and ensuring my pink tutu stays crisp and sparkling!

Remember my post from last week where I talked about the delightful journey on the Orient Express? Well, my dearest followers, it was even better than I could have dreamed! The carriage was beautifully appointed with plush velvet seats and the views whizzing past were a feast for the eyes. The staff, oh my, simply divine! They brought us steaming hot cups of tea and mouthwatering snacks as we watched the countryside roll by. I can honestly say I have never felt more relaxed and pampered!

From London to Milan: A City in Bloom

Upon arriving at Milan's central station, I felt an immediate buzz in the air. A feeling of being swept up in a current of energy, just like the train itself. Stepping off, the scent of espresso and the sights of towering buildings flooded my senses. And I had my trusty pink tutu with me, of course! It just goes to show you, my dears, there’s no occasion too grand or too humble for a pink tutu. It's a reminder to embrace life with a sense of fun and joie de vivre.

I popped into the station's cafe and enjoyed a classic Italian cappuccino before taking a delightful tram ride across the city. Milan's tram network is incredibly efficient and a joy to use. It gave me a chance to take in the city's iconic architecture. So, naturally, I struck a pose outside the Duomo - it’s quite the photogenic location with its stunning Gothic architecture, intricate details, and breathtaking views. But of course, with a little pink tutu magic, the pictures turned out absolutely sensational.

A Stroll Through Fashion Heaven

Next on my list, of course, was a trip to Milan's iconic fashion district, via Montenapoleone. Just being amongst those boutiques filled with luxurious creations was pure magic. A fashionista’s paradise, I tell you! I can’t reveal too many details – consider it my little secret! However, I do recommend you pick up a chic silk scarf or a beautiful handbag from one of the charming designer boutiques lining these elegant streets.

Speaking of fashion, have you seen the latest in pink tutu trends? A delicate pink tulle wrap dress has captured my attention recently! I absolutely love how it pairs perfectly with a bold red lipstick. The combination just oozes Parisian elegance. I think I need to find some of these gorgeous little gems for my next ballet recital.

On The Stage: A Ballet Lover's Dream

After a little bit of pampering and shopping, it was time for the reason I truly came to Milan - a captivating evening of ballet!

This week I had the honour of seeing "The Sleeping Beauty" performed at Teatro alla Scala. From the moment I entered the majestic theatre, I felt a surge of excitement! The grandeur of the interior, the luxurious velvet seats, and the atmosphere of anticipation – it's an experience I'll cherish forever. And you know me, I never miss an opportunity to dance around in my pink tutu before taking my seat! I just can’t help it!

I can’t share any more than that! I’ll be revealing more about "The Sleeping Beauty" and my backstage experience in next week’s post. I'm just itching to gush about the intricate choreography and stunning costumes, not to mention the extraordinary performances from the world-class dancers!

The atmosphere during the performance was absolutely electric. Every nuance of movement, every turn of the ballerina's delicate feet, had the audience in complete rapture. You can tell that Italian audiences adore their ballet. Just witnessing the dedication of these phenomenal artists and seeing their passion shine through was an incredibly emotional experience for me.

And of course, after the performance, the thrill of rushing backstage and meeting the performers! These wonderful ballerinas are such inspirations. They’re true artists with extraordinary talent, but more importantly, they're simply lovely human beings. You just feel like you can do anything if you’ve got the passion, a great pink tutu, and an unstoppable spirit!

Finding Magic in the Ordinary

Milan truly embodies that wonderful Italian "dolce vita". Even a simple walk through the city can become an extraordinary experience! From sipping espresso in a bustling piazza, catching a vintage tram, and indulging in some mouthwatering Italian food to discovering hidden art galleries and experiencing the energy of local markets. This city is bursting with creativity and history!

Of course, no trip to Milan is complete without trying the legendary gelato! The flavour combinations were simply endless – everything from classic vanilla and pistachio to exotic flavours like mango sorbet and white chocolate with raspberry. And I may have accidentally enjoyed two scoops of the delicious Stracciatella, a flavour with shards of dark chocolate swirled throughout. Honestly, my dears, it's the best gelato I've had outside of Derbyshire.

And speaking of Derbyshire… You all know how much I adore home. Even as I write this blog from my hotel room in Milan, my thoughts are flitting back to the Derbyshire countryside. To the gentle green hills, the quaint village streets, and the quiet joy of countryside life. But oh, how my pink tutu longs for more adventure, more city life, and more international travels. That’s what keeps me going. I’ve just got to experience the world, share my love of ballet, and hopefully inspire more people to find joy in their pink tutus.

Stay Chic and Embrace Your Inner Pink Tutu! 💖

That’s all from me for now. Don’t forget to check out next week's blog where I will be revealing all my secrets from "The Sleeping Beauty" at the Teatro alla Scala. Until then, my dears, remember to stay positive, chase your dreams, and embrace your inner ballerina - even if it's just twirling around in a pink tutu at home.

As always, you can reach me through the pink-tutu.com website! Have a fabulous week, my loves!

Lots of pink tutu love,

Emma xoxo
