Pink Tutu Milan: Post #559 - Ciao Bella! 🩰🌸🇮🇹

Wednesday 2006-02-22

Buongiorno, darlings! Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina, landing in Milano, Italy! After a whirlwind weekend performing at a charity gala in Derbyshire (and yes, I wore my shimmering pink tutu, naturally!), I'm back on the road. This time, it's a long weekend in the fashion capital of the world!

Now, you might think, what's a pink tutu-obsessed girl doing in a city of fashion and design? Well, my lovelies, let me tell you, Milan and pink tutus go hand in hand!

Firstly, it's all about embracement of individuality. In Milan, everyone rocks their own style. Just imagine a catwalk of street fashion, and you've got Milan! From sharp tailoring to chic streetwear, the Italians do effortless elegance. But guess what? My pink tutu isn't just some quirky addition. It's a bold statement, a reminder that style is all about confidence and celebrating who you are!

Secondly, there's the ballet scene! Milano is bursting with ballet studios, dance academies, and breathtaking theatre performances. My first stop after dropping my luggage (don't worry, my tutu and pointe shoes are tucked safely in a special bag!) was the glorious Teatro alla Scala, Milan's legendary opera house.

Even just walking by, I could feel the history, the grandeur, the passion for performance. Can you imagine, my darlings, dancing on that iconic stage? I might be dreaming, but one day, I'll make that dream a reality!

Later on, I popped into the delightful Studio 79, a beautiful ballet studio tucked away in the bustling heart of Milan. Just being surrounded by fellow dancers, sharing a love of the art form, makes my heart sing! We even did a bit of a warm-up together, some plies and relevés to shake off the journey. It was a lovely reminder that even in a city as cosmopolitan as Milan, the passion for ballet shines bright!

And of course, shopping is a must! It wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Milan post without a trip to Via della Spiga. I'm talking couture, my lovelies, luxurious designer boutiques and those divine, whimsical shops that make your head spin. Did I tell you I've found a fabulously soft pink cashmere scarf, the perfect addition to any pink tutu outfit?

Milan is all about colour, darling, so a little pink certainly fits in! Think vibrant pink florals, blushing rose lipstick, and even that hint of rose gold shimmer. My love for all things pink certainly isn't misplaced in this fashion paradise!

Now, back to the more practical side of things, Milan is incredibly easy to navigate, even for a girl with a huge, pink tulle dream skirt. Trams are an absolute dream. They're swift, efficient, and most importantly, let you take in all the beauty of this amazing city!

As the day wore on, I took a scenic tram ride to Parco Sempione, a haven of tranquility nestled within the heart of Milan. I love a good walk and even indulged in a gelato (chocolate with a sprinkle of pink! What else would I choose?) before settling down for a delightful picnic under the Italian sunshine.

In the evening, it's time to catch a ballet show at the Teatro dell'Arte. My darlings, this was no ordinary show. This performance had me captivated from the very first pirouette! The dancers, they were phenomenal, swirling across the stage like angels on pointe.

The choreography was mesmerising, weaving tales of love, loss, and triumph through a graceful language of movement. This wasn't just ballet, it was a masterpiece! I felt transported to another world, every twirl, every leap, a symphony of beauty and grace. I almost felt like I was part of the performance, wanting to join in with my own pirouette, a little splash of pink amidst the magic.

After the performance, my soul felt energised. It reminded me why I dance, why I embrace pink, and why sharing this love of the art form, and fashion, with all of you is something truly special.

Oh, I almost forgot, on this day in 2006, Milan is buzzing with fashionistas preparing for the big show - Milano Fashion Week! There's excitement in the air, the click-clack of stiletto heels against the cobblestones, a kaleidoscope of colours in every shop window, and of course, a few curious stares at my vibrant pink tutu as I gracefully glide through the city, spreading the joy of pink wherever I go.

And to all my darling readers, remember, pink isn't just a colour, it's a state of mind. A state of happiness, of playfulness, of daring to be different. So, wear that pink, rock those pink accessories, and twirl your way into the world. Spread some pink joy!

Until next week, darlings,

XOXO, Emma
