Pink Tutu Milan: Post 618 - Wednesday 11th April 2007

Ciao bella!

Welcome back to my little corner of the internet, where everything is a bit more pink, a bit more twirly, and definitely a bit more magical!

This week, I've landed in the beautiful city of Milan, Italy! I arrived yesterday, after a rather delightful train journey from Florence. I just love those high-speed Italian trains, gliding past vineyards and rolling hills, feeling the sun on my face as the Italian countryside rushes by. I might have been slightly too enthusiastic with my travelling outfit (pink tutu, obviously, but this time it was paired with a fabulously feathered pink beret), but who cares! Everyone needs a touch of whimsy in their life.

Speaking of whimsical, this whole Milan experience is something straight out of a fairytale! From the majestic Duomo, its marble façade glinting under the Italian sun, to the cobbled streets lined with boutiques bursting with colour, I feel like I’m stepping onto a stage, surrounded by breathtaking scenery. The air hums with the buzz of life, a delicious mix of cafe chatter, car horns, and the joyful trill of street musicians. It’s a symphony for the senses!

Ballet Bliss

Naturally, one of my first stops had to be Teatro alla Scala, the legendary opera house. The grand marble halls, the opulent gold accents, the anticipation in the air… I was truly spellbound! Sadly, I was just a little too early for a show, but I had a sneak peek at the stunning stage and just stood there, feeling the history of a thousand performances radiating around me.

Tomorrow, however, I'm off to a real treat - a private ballet class at a renowned studio in the city centre! It's going to be amazing, I can just feel it. A few days of working my way through challenging exercises will be a great way to re-energize and to find my feet after a week of performing back in Derbyshire. Speaking of, the last couple of performances were a joy, seeing so many little ones light up as they watched me twirl and leap on stage. I’ve never seen such an excited audience for a ballerina in a pink tutu! (Just a little fact for you, my ballet fund for travelling has grown steadily, so much so, I’m already starting to think about where I’m going to travel to next!) I am aiming to take ballet and my love for pink tutus around the whole world! And then there’s a cheeky plan of my own which is so big, it needs to be shared. Let’s all wear a pink tutu together! Imagine that, thousands and thousands of people around the world in their favourite pink tutus, just ready to prance! Isn’t that a vision for you?

Milan's Magic

It's been just over 24 hours here in Milan and already I’ve felt the allure of this city’s energy. My time here is fleeting, only a couple of days before I’m back on the train to my next adventure. Milan has it all, from its art-filled Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with its awe-inspiring architecture, to the exquisite displays in designer shops lining the streets. Speaking of shopping, how could I visit Milan without a stop at Gucci's flagship store, which is adorned with giant, eye-catching pink flowers, or indulging in the delectable flavours of a truly authentic Milanese gelato (a classic, I tell you! The colours alone will take your breath away!) I know this is only a snippet of what this magnificent city has to offer, and I’m desperate to explore every corner and alleyway before my time here is over!

The Power of Pink

I truly believe that a touch of pink and a twirl of a tutu can brighten anyone's day. The power of pink, in all its vibrant glory, brings a spark of happiness and a sense of carefree abandon to any occasion. Whether it's strolling through the ancient Roman ruins, indulging in a delicious Milanese risotto, or just enjoying the beautiful sunshine, I can't help but feel a little more joyful and a little more vibrant wearing my signature pink tutu. It's my armour against the mundane, my shield against the ordinary, and a reminder to myself to embrace life with open arms and twirling steps.

Milan, I'm in awe of your vibrant energy, your fashion flair, and your captivating history. You’ve captured a piece of my heart and I will return again, someday soon. But for now, my dear readers, I must get ready for another glorious day of exploring this stunning city. I shall twirl into the afternoon sun, embrace every moment, and continue on my mission to spread the pink tutu love! Until next week!

Lots of love and pink tutu kisses,

Emma xx
