Pink Tutu Milan: #769 - Whirlwind Wednesday in the City of Fashion!

Buongiorno, my darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad blogger, Emma, back from the heart of Milan, Italy. The city that never sleeps, and neither does this pink tutu! 😉

This week, Milan has been a whirlwind of ballet, fashion, and trams. Oh, how I love the feeling of the wind whipping through my tutu as I hop on and off the iconic yellow trams! I swear, the city seems to dance to its own rhythm - and that rhythm is pure Italian glamour.

Before we get into the thick of it, I just need to say a huge thank you for all your lovely comments and messages! It truly warms my heart to hear you've enjoyed my last few posts. This week has been extra special, because you've helped make it possible!

You see, as you know, my love for ballet fuels my travels, and my recent performances in lovely Derbyshire have allowed me to chase my dreams and indulge my passion for pink tutus and everything beautiful in this magical city.

Speaking of performances, this week, Milan was truly overflowing with exquisite artistry! On Wednesday, I found myself enthralled at the Teatro alla Scala, one of the most famous opera houses in the world. I'm not going to lie, getting tickets to a show here is like winning the lottery! The performance I saw was breathtaking. It's an opera I've never seen before and will cherish for years to come!

You know what else is exquisite in Milan? Fashion! Now, this is a city that understands how to dress, and I felt absolutely at home with all the fabulous people strutting around in their chicest outfits. I even spied a woman with a hot pink feathered boa - seriously, how amazing is that? Don't worry, I may have discreetly snapped a photo for my Instagram feed! You just can't resist the temptation to capture that fabulous energy of Milan!

My day was far from over though. It was all about getting lost in the city, a wonderful adventure! My aim this week was to find some authentic Italian artisan leather shoes, you know the ones with that beautifully distressed look. The shops are tucked away, off the beaten track, amongst the narrow cobblestone streets, so they require a bit of seeking out. And I have to tell you, I finally found a pair! It's an exquisite ballet-inspired flat with a blush pink satin ribbon tied into a graceful bow. I feel like a ballerina even in the everyday, a real dream come true!

To round off the perfect Milanese day, I had a little stroll down Via Montenapoleone, one of the most famous streets in Milan, brimming with high-end designers and exclusive boutiques. Let me tell you, my pink tutu was feeling very much at home amidst the velvet ropes and stunning displays of fashion. And what is more stylish than strolling down a charming street, in a pink tutu, feeling utterly fabulous?

Oh, and one more thing, did you know Milan is also a city for tea lovers? I discovered the most delightful tea shop with an enchanting interior! Every corner was a masterpiece. It was like stepping into an Alice in Wonderland tea party with its mismatched teacups and comfy chairs, and the scent of the floral teas filled the air. This little sanctuary of calm offered the perfect escape from the city’s buzzing energy, and as always, I managed to squeeze in a slice of a delicate pistachio cake - it's pure Milanese heaven!

Now, here’s the thing… even though I love the hustle and bustle of city life, there's also a charm to a quiet stroll through the parks. On Thursday, I escaped the busy city and enjoyed a moment of peace in the tranquil Parco Sempione. This verdant oasis offered a breath of fresh air and a lovely reminder of the importance of slowing down and appreciating the simple beauty of nature.

Of course, every moment in Milan feels like a stage, and this charming park provides the perfect backdrop for twirling around in a pink tutu! And guess what? I discovered a new friend in the park - a delightful poodle wearing a tiny, exquisite pink bow. We even had a little dance together - it was truly magical!

On Friday, it was all about the ballet, and the city really lived up to its reputation as a centre for the performing arts! I found myself captivated by the exquisite artistry of the dancers. They spun and leaped, telling stories with their graceful movements and bringing to life beautiful narratives on stage. I'm truly in awe of their talent.

After the performance, a delightful evening adventure with friends! We wandered through the atmospheric streets of Milan, soaking up the enchanting vibes. You know me, I always try to get people involved in my love for pink tutus, and one of my dear friends was more than happy to wear a pink feather boa while we explored the vibrant, night-time heart of the city!

Now, Saturday is all about the market! A city like Milan wouldn't be complete without its incredible street markets. One of my favourites is the Flea Market located at the Porta Portese. Imagine an ocean of colour, sound, and treasure-troves. You can find everything from vintage fashion, vintage posters, handcrafted furniture, to beautiful hand-stitched tapestries! You name it, they've got it, and everything is an absolute bargain. I even found a vintage ballet tutu (of course!), with the most charming pearl detailing and a touch of delicate pink lace.

What better way to wrap up this fabulous whirlwind week than with a splendid brunch in Milan? The brunch culture here is just divine, with cafes overflowing with delicious food, fluffy pastries, and bottomless coffee. I truly am in my happy place! It's just one more reason why I think Milan should definitely be on your must-visit list.

So, until next time my lovelies, remember to be kind, dance your hearts out, and always, always be prepared for a pink tutu adventure! 😉

Remember to join me on Monday for my next Milan post, where I'll share a new week of magical adventures! And don't forget to head over to my website, www.pink-tutu.com, for even more pink tutu goodness!

Until then, twirl with joy,

Emma xxx
