Pink Tutu Milan - Post #787 - Wednesday 2010-07-07

Ciao from Milan! The sunshine's been shining brightly here, and even the trams have been wearing their prettiest smiles! I can’t wait to share my latest adventures with you lovely lot – the fashion, the food, and the dancing, oh my!

As you all know, this is where I make my weekly blog updates, every Monday on www.pink-tutu.com. I've just had the most fabulous few days here, and believe me, my tutu has been spinning around faster than ever! It's not easy fitting all the sightseeing, shopping, and ballet performances into one week, but that's just part of the Pink Tutu Milan life, and wouldn't have it any other way!

Milan – the City of Fashion and Style

It's been amazing! You know how much I love a bit of high street, high fashion shopping, right? Well, I'm practically floating in my Pink Tutu heaven! From the cobbled streets of the historical centre to the sprawling boutiques of Via della Spiga and the designer ateliers on Via Montenapoleone, I've been spoilt for choice. And guess what? You don't even need to be loaded with cash to look fabulous in Milan! So many of the high-street shops have beautiful pieces that wouldn’t look out of place in a Milan fashion show. I managed to snap up some divine floral-print blouses at a little boutique called "Fiori" - think delicate petals in shades of pink, peach, and ivory! My pink tutu will be looking extra sassy alongside those beauties!

My Latest Ballet Discovery - The Teatro alla Scala

This weekend I had the honour of witnessing a ballet performance at the legendary Teatro alla Scala! Oh my word! It was more than a show, it was an experience! From the intricate gilded architecture to the hush that fell over the audience as the music swelled, I felt like I’d been transported to a fairy tale. The dancers – what graceful, athletic creatures! They practically danced on air, and I’m not even exaggerating. The costumes were like a kaleidoscope of colours – a veritable feast for the eyes. You know, I've been thinking... maybe we should all wear a pink tutu to the next performance? I’d like to think it would inject a little extra fun and colour! Imagine the smiles it would bring to everyone’s faces – wouldn't it be a perfect ballet performance moment!

Discovering Milan’s hidden Gems by Tram and Train

You might be surprised to know that my trusty tram card is my best friend when exploring Milan! It lets me hop on and off easily, exploring those hidden little alleys and cobbled side streets, getting a real sense of the city’s vibe. On a recent adventure, I found the most charming cafe tucked away down a quiet street near Piazza del Duomo. It had the most beautiful wisteria-covered courtyard, where I sat and enjoyed a latte and a decadent cannoli. And guess what? It was perfect for taking some blog-worthy photos! I think you’ll be seeing them on my social media later today!

My Delicious Milanese Journey - From Pasta to Panettone

One of my favourite things about Milan is the food, darling! Seriously, where do I even begin? The pasta? Divine. I've been trying different restaurants every day and each time I swear I'm tasting the best thing ever. So far, it's a toss-up between the perfect tortellini in brodo I had at Trattoria San Lorenzo (the warmth of the broth and the subtle flavours were simply divine!), and the vibrant pink and white ricotta ravioli I devoured at Trattoria Luigia! This city knows how to indulge a pink tutu enthusiast, that's for sure!

And you just must try the Panettone. Honestly, it’s the sweetest thing I've tasted. The rich bread with candied citrus and raisins – what a treat! This one is for those special days, you know what I mean? And it makes for the most adorable afternoon snack, enjoyed while looking out the tram window, pink tutu swirling.

Dreaming Big with my Pink Tutu in Milan

There's something special about being in a city like Milan. It’s inspiring! Every corner seems to buzz with creativity, energy, and dreams. It's really made me reflect on what my heart truly desires – and I want to spread the pink tutu love everywhere! Not just in Milan, but all over the world!

This trip is all about giving me that little bit extra inspiration for my latest ballet project. I’m thinking a community project. I want to inspire more people to wear a pink tutu and experience the joy that comes with it. The sheer amount of joy a tutu can bring people, from shy kids to proud grandmas, it’s magical, right?! This is about more than just fashion. It’s about empowerment, embracing joy, and celebrating all things pink!

Well, that’s all for now, darlings! The streets are calling and my pink tutu is practically begging for a little more Milanese fun! Until next Monday, when we’ll chat again on www.pink-tutu.com about new adventures in fashion, food and, of course, the amazing world of ballet!

Stay fabulous, my little pink tutus!
