Pink Tutu Milan: Post #805 – Fashion, Ballet and a Pink Tutu Tram Ride!

Ciao Bella!

It's Wednesday, and you know what that means... another pink-tastic instalment from the Pink Tutu Milan blog! This week, I'm whizzing you through a whirlwind of fashion, ballet, and of course, the pinkest tutu adventures in the heart of Milan.

It feels a bit strange to say this, but life is getting busier than ever here in the fashion capital of Italy! This week has been an absolute ballet-and-bling frenzy, filled with everything from discovering hidden ballet gems to strutting through the streets in my very own pink tutu masterpiece.

But before we dive into the glittering details, let me paint you a picture. Imagine…

A Picture of Perfect Milan

Sunlight streams down through the elegant arches of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. The air is crisp and sweet, laced with the intoxicating scent of fresh bread and blooming jasmine. A sea of stylish Milanese flit past, their outfits impeccably coordinated, each showcasing their individual flair. And then there's me, twirling along in a hot pink tutu, catching eyes and leaving a trail of smiles wherever I go.

What can I say? Milan is a city that practically begs you to embrace your inner ballerina, and with a tutu this glorious, who am I to resist?

From Derbyshire to the Fashion Heart of Italy

This journey wouldn’t be possible without the joy I find in dancing. I’m a Derbyshire girl at heart, and I remember how, as a little girl, my biggest dream was to travel the world, performing my heart out on stage. Who could have imagined that this dream would lead me all the way to Milan, showcasing my talent while exploring the magical streets and embracing its vibrant cultural scene? It’s still surreal!

How I’m Funding my Pink Tutu Travels

Believe me, life isn’t always sunshine and tulle! I fund my Milan escapades by doing what I love: dancing. My nights are filled with performances at a variety of venues, from small, intimate theatres to glamorous concert halls. It's the best way to discover hidden artistic gems and meet like-minded souls. Plus, nothing beats that exhilarating rush of adrenaline when the spotlight hits your tutu.

So, What Happened This Week?

Monday: The week began with a mesmerising ballet class. It wasn’t just any class, though! This one was held at Teatro Dal Verme, one of the most iconic theatres in Milan. Can you even imagine? Picture me gracefully gliding across the hallowed stage where the likes of Pavlova and Nijinsky have danced. It was truly inspiring!

Tuesday: I took to the city’s charming trams, my pink tutu drawing curious stares and cheerful greetings from the locals. It was like being a tiny pink firework in a sea of stylish Milanese. The beauty of trams? They weave through the heart of Milan’s hidden corners. I discovered the most fabulous vintage shop with a collection of shimmering sequined dresses from the 1920s, just begging to be paired with a vibrant pink tutu. I snagged a sparkling ruby-red creation for a future performance.

Wednesday: It's the day for a much-needed ballet matinee at Teatro alla Scala. Let's just say, there's a certain thrill that comes with seeing a legendary performance within these grand walls. The costumes were breathtaking, the choreography mesmerising, and the passion on stage simply contagious. I sat there spellbound, and my pink tutu was practically glowing in the excitement.

Thursday: It's all about finding inspiration! Milan's art scene is buzzing with talent. Today I wandered through the Triennale di Milano, marvelling at its contemporary exhibitions. And wouldn’t you know it, my little pink tutu managed to charm its way into one of the installations, adding a splash of colour to a vibrant abstract canvas!

Friday: Tonight, I’ll be dancing in my first Italian performance, a charming ballet production in a picturesque outdoor theatre nestled in the heart of the city. Don't worry, my darling tutus are always packed for any event, even open-air concerts! I’ll be sharing the stage with a captivating group of Italian dancers, a mixture of seasoned professionals and up-and-coming stars. I can't wait!

Saturday: Ah, the weekend is here, and I plan to explore Brera, a cobbled artistic district bursting with hidden galleries and cafes. My trusty pink tutu and I will be browsing local boutiques, looking for that perfect accessory to complement the sparkle in my heart. Maybe a pink pearl necklace or a dazzling silver headband to tie everything together?

Sunday: Relaxation and reflection! The perfect day for a lazy breakfast at Il Bar Centrale in the historic Brera neighbourhood. It's the perfect spot to watch the world go by, soaking up the city’s laid-back charm. You’ll often find me sketching a ballet-inspired illustration on my notepad while savouring a decadent cappuccino.

What’s on This Week

It’s a busy week in Milan. On November 10th, 2010, there is a ballet show scheduled at Teatro alla Scala, a spectacular performance by the Ballet Company. I’ll be there with bells on...and maybe a tiny pink ribbon too!

But if you happen to be in Milan, there's always something extraordinary going on! Check out their online theatre schedules.

Sharing the Love of Ballet and Tutu-tude

My blog isn’t just about pretty pictures and dreamy travel tales. It’s a celebration of all things pink, sparkly and graceful. I believe that ballet is a gift, one that can be shared and enjoyed by everyone. My mission, should I choose to accept it? To get the entire world dancing in pink tutus!

Don't let anyone tell you that tutus are only for the stage. I'm living proof that they can bring joy to any adventure. Whether I’m sipping coffee in a sun-drenched café or whirling across the stage, my pink tutu reminds me that life is about embracing the unexpected, and dancing with a smile.

So, go ahead! Put on your brightest pink, spin around in a glorious twirl, and let your inner ballerina shine!

And remember, darlings, you can do anything you set your mind to, one pink tutu at a time.

Keep twirling!

Love,

Emma
