Pink Tutu Milan: #895 - A Touch of Pink in Milan

Hello, darlings! It's Wednesday, 1st August, 2012, and I'm writing to you from the most stylish city in the world, Milano, darling! This week I've had so much to see, do, and tell you about – I barely know where to begin! So grab a cuppa, settle in, and let me fill you in on all the pink-tastic adventures that have been unfolding!

This time around, I chose to journey from Derbyshire to Italy via the trusty old train route. A journey on the Eurostar was the first stop in my Italian escapade. Let me tell you, a pink tutu never looked so glamorous on a train! Everyone around me was staring with envy and wonder - especially when the train staff called out my name in their crisp French accents as I went to the cafe car. That's right, it's “Emma, Pink Tutu Girl,” they call me, darling. 😉

A Dream Come True at La Scala

I arrived in Milan on Tuesday, a touch of sunshine, pink, and ballet shoes brightening up the bustling streets. My first stop, naturally, had to be a ballet class at the Teatro alla Scala. Honestly, the legendary La Scala was a dream come true for this ballet-mad girl! Standing inside that incredible theatre, I felt like I was in a fairy tale. They welcomed me with open arms (and a glass of Prosecco!), which was a welcome change from the usual English class where I often have to be the one to cheer everyone up.

But what really makes Milan’s La Scala special is its stunningly beautiful atmosphere. It’s steeped in history, from the glorious frescos on the ceiling to the deep crimson seats, the entire theatre is designed to bring ballet to life. You could feel the history, the passion for dance, and the elegance in the air. The class itself was phenomenal - so professional and disciplined, but fun at the same time. And best of all, I felt completely at home in my pink tutu amongst the class. It looked fabulous in the glorious light coming through the arched windows! I practically twirled my way through the grand entrance after my class, my pink tulle flowing behind me, feeling utterly glamorous.

A Day of Delightful Discoveries

This Wednesday, I’ve had a delightful day, full of delightful discoveries.

First up, a wander through the streets, sourcing the best vintage pink tutus the city could offer! My mission today, as you all know, is to find a truly sensational, unique, tutu-licious vintage tutu. Think Parisian chic, mixed with Italian romance, sprinkled with just a touch of a fairy tale ending… That is my ideal Milanese pink tutu, darling. It's my favourite hobby: going on a little mission, then having a cuppa while planning the next.

I started off at Piazza del Duomo – you know the one, right? With the spectacular Duomo rising majestically in the centre – but honestly, it was the shopping that caught my eye! Imagine my delight as I stumbled across a cute boutique in Via Santa Margherita, stuffed to the rafters with vintage delights! You just couldn't ask for a more elegant boulevard for your sartorial adventures!

Every step was a thrill, each corner promising a treasure waiting to be unearthed! And oh, the clothes, the shoes, the hats – this city is truly a fashion wonderland! It’s a feast for the senses, darlings! So much beauty and style!

Fashionista by the Tram Ride

The lovely locals seem to enjoy the pink tutu, too! Every tram journey becomes a personal catwalk – people smiling, giving compliments, and taking photos – I practically need a bodyguard! It’s truly empowering. Just remember, my lovely followers: confidence is key, darling! The bolder you are, the more you'll shine!
I’m planning on heading back to La Scala this afternoon, they’re staging a very special performance this evening - a delightful ballet interpretation of “Alice in Wonderland”! What a way to spend a Wednesday evening, eh? Think sparkling gowns, mystical costumes, and perhaps a cameo appearance of a white rabbit! Who knows what wonders await this tutu-wearing ballerina? 😉

“La Dolce Vita" in Milan

Oh, darling, Milan! A place where fashion and ballet mix beautifully with culture and romance. Let’s face it, the pink tutu simply wouldn’t look so magical anywhere else!

You just need to trust yourself and let the rhythm guide you! Because when you slip into your pink tutu, you unlock a whole new world of adventure and sparkle! It’s like a magic potion of confidence and charm. And in my experience, darling, a little sprinkle of pink is all it takes to bring joy and laughter to every single corner of the world.

You’ll have to visit my blog again soon, darling, because next week I’m planning on exploring the fashion scene, searching out vintage finds, and perhaps even meeting the iconic Donatella Versace! She’s one of the most glamorous women in the world and the very image of fearless fashion! Let’s hope I can charm her with my pink tutu. After all, it’s not everyday a ballet-mad, Derbyshire-born ballerina takes Milan by storm!

Until next time, Emma x
