Pink Tutu Milan: #924 - Where Dreams and Sequins Meet

Ciao bella!

This week, your favourite tutu-clad traveller has touched down in the fashion capital of the world - Milano! Yes, I've swapped the rolling green hills of Derbyshire for the cobbled streets and stunning architecture of Italy. This week's blog will be overflowing with style inspiration, artistic delights, and perhaps even a dash of pasta!

Travelling in Style (And a Pink Tutu!)

From my little corner of the world, Derbyshire, Milan felt like a magical dream. As I boarded the Eurostar, my heart beat with excitement. I had to be creative about travelling with my signature pink tutu; after all, a tutu has to travel in style! I cleverly folded it up and put it into my suitcase, then popped on my favourite ballerina flat shoes, a gorgeous vintage blush-coloured coat, and my signature pink feather boa. And wouldn't you know it, the whole train carriage seemed to hold its breath as I sashayed past. It was a triumph!

I was greeted by the friendly bustle of Milano Centrale. I felt like I was in a movie! Everything felt so glamorous. The taxi ride to my little apartment, an adorable attic room right by the Duomo, felt like a whirl of pink sparkles.

First Stop: Shopping Therapy at Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II

My very first stop, naturally, was to delve into the glorious world of fashion. Now, Milano is renowned for its high fashion. It is just my type of town, so expect some serious shoe-gasms and outfit envy in my next few posts! My first stop? The glorious Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. Imagine a breathtaking glass-ceilinged shopping centre, built in 1867! Think gorgeous shops filled with Italian fashion labels like Prada, Gucci, and Dolce & Gabbana. It was pure magic! I'm planning on treating myself to a new pair of pointed ballet flats – they're perfect for all the walking and sightseeing. They just needed a touch of pink…

My Artistic Awakening

Milan isn't just about designer handbags and fabulous shoes, it's a city that throbs with art and culture. Today, I immersed myself in the beauty of the world-renowned Pinacoteca di Brera. It’s a museum home to incredible works by Italian Masters like Raphael, Mantegna, and Bellini. To me, a lot of these old paintings resembled theatrical performances. They were all about drama and movement. Every time I saw an artwork of a ballerina I found myself subconsciously reaching for my tutu. They felt so very ballet!

Pink Tutu Spotlight: Tonight’s Performance

Milan isn’t short of fantastic cultural experiences. Tonight, I’ll be dancing with the stars (metaphorically, of course!), by attending the incredible ‘Opera di Milano’. I’ve got a ticket to the enchanting ballet, “Swan Lake”. It promises a beautiful night of soaring movements and haunting melodies, which I’m super excited for! I'm even planning on making my signature pink tutu a statement piece for the occasion. Can’t wait to tell you all about it!

Sharing a Pink Dream

Milan is a city overflowing with inspiration! It's given me some fantastic outfit ideas! As I sashay through the streets of this fashionable haven, I hope to spread the love of ballet and my passion for the most beautiful of all colours, pink. Just imagine Milan bathed in a sea of pink tutus. What a sight! This might just be a dream, but I am certain that every day I can inch a little closer to making my dream of a Pink Tutu World a reality.

Stay tuned for more fashion finds, artistic discoveries, and cultural adventures. It's time for a glass of Prosecco and maybe a slice of tiramisu – until next week!

Love, Emma

P.S. Don’t forget to join me on Pink Tutu Milan’s Instagram! We’re already going viral.

P.P.S I also think every day should have a pink tutu theme. Wednesday could be 'Wear a Pink Tutu Day', but we could also do something like "Thursday Pink Tutu and Pasta Night," because really, what's better than pink tutus and pasta?

Let me know what you think! We could all wear a pink tutu in every city of the world, maybe that's a great way of making the world a little bit better one tutu at a time?

I'll be back next Monday with a whole new post - stay fabulous!
