Pink Tutu Milan #967: Wednesday 2013-12-18 - A Day Filled with Pink and Poise!

Ciao bella! It's Emma here, back with another pink-tastic instalment of my Milan adventures. The Italian sunshine is practically radiating pink today, matching my mood perfectly, and I'm brimming with excitement to share all the pink-hued delights this charming city has offered me.

This week has been a whirlwind of tutus, trains and triumphs – the perfect recipe for a #PinkTutuMilan blog post. Let's jump in, shall we?

Ballet Blooms in Milano

As you all know, I'm a firm believer that a girl's best friend is a good pair of pointe shoes and a tulle-tastic tutu. And let me tell you, Milan is a city that truly appreciates the elegance of dance! This week I was lucky enough to catch a stunning performance of “Swan Lake” at Teatro alla Scala. The artistry, the grace, the sheer beauty of it all… I practically levitated in my seat, mesmerised by the power and passion of each dancer. I couldn't help but be reminded of why I wear a pink tutu with such pride - because it's a symbol of joy, strength and, of course, a healthy dose of fabulous!

The costumes, my dear readers, were pure artistry in themselves! They weren't just clothing – they were stories spun in silk and satin, whispering tales of swans, princesses and princes. It's safe to say, the entire theatre was bathed in a shimmering pink glow for the final act, with the swans gliding across the stage like wisps of tulle and feathers. If only I could wear a tutu onstage myself! Maybe one day...

Speaking of graceful movements and tutus, my ballet class this week was absolutely phenomenal. We had a guest instructor who was a principal dancer from Teatro alla Scala – her expertise and technique were mind-blowing! She introduced us to a beautiful new sequence that was both challenging and empowering. The joy I felt in that studio, with my fellow dancers and a fantastic teacher, was truly something special. It's moments like these that truly fuel my love for ballet – it's about so much more than just pirouettes and leaps. It's about discovering strength, grace and inner peace in every step, every pose, every graceful move.

Milanese Marvels

Between all the tutus and training, I had the opportunity to explore more of this magical city. This week, I hopped onto a beautiful, old-fashioned tram, a bright yellow masterpiece that I imagine carried grand ladies and gentlemen to soirées and art exhibitions centuries ago. It whisked me to the Duomo, that architectural masterpiece in the heart of Milan. I spent hours just gazing at the intricate carvings, imagining the stories they told, the whispers of history etched in each stone. The sunbeams dancing off the stained glass windows painted rainbows on my face – it felt like being in a dream, an incredibly romantic, pink-hued dream.

But let’s be honest, a pink-tutu wearing girl can't resist a good dose of shopping therapy! After my trip to the Duomo, I wandered through the winding streets, marveling at the boutique windows. The craftsmanship, the bold colors, the luxurious fabrics – it was a feast for the senses. There were exquisite fabrics draped across mannequins like dreams and the most breathtaking accessories you've ever seen. It's like Milan is an enormous shop window itself, showcasing the very best of fashion. I know some people love shopping online, but there's nothing like being physically surrounded by clothes you're excited to wear. It's like having a giant personal fashion show unfolding before your eyes!

Food, Fashion, and Family

Speaking of dreams, the culinary scene in Milan is nothing short of a fairytale! After a day of dancing and exploring, I treat myself to a delicious Italian feast. This week I dined at a delightful little family-run trattoria that seemed to serve the most amazing pasta dishes - perfectly al dente, with a delightful symphony of flavors that would make your tastebuds sing! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the family that owned the restaurant truly seemed to embody the spirit of Italian hospitality. They brought out the most delectable tiramisu for dessert – it was literally a symphony of flavours in every mouthful!

A girl’s gotta have a treat every now and then! You see, for me, it's not just about eating good food – it's about the experience, the conversation, the shared joy of enjoying life's little pleasures. After all, that's what life is about - enjoying the simple things, indulging in delicious treats, and surrounding yourself with people you love.

My Little Bit of Milan Magic

This is just a tiny peek into my #PinkTutuMilan adventures. This city truly captures my heart. I love its energy, its rich history, its artistic soul, and most of all, its warm embrace of all things elegant and beautiful. There's always something exciting happening here, from fashion shows to art exhibitions to dazzling ballet performances. And I'm always on the lookout for new experiences, new ways to embrace life and spread the joy of ballet and pink tutus.

Next week, I'm off to explore the vibrant street art scene of Milan. I'm already daydreaming about the colours and the creativity that awaits. Until then, don’t forget to wear a smile, stand tall, and, of course, wear pink – if not a tutu, then perhaps just a splash of this magical hue. It's the secret to embracing life with open arms and a twinkle in your eye!
