Pink Tutu Milan #969: A New Year, A New City, A New Tutu! 🩰✨🇮🇹

Hello my darling darlings, and welcome back to Pink Tutu Milan! I’m Emma, your resident tutu enthusiast, and this is your weekly dose of all things pink, sparkly, and pirouette-tastic! As we enter the bright, crisp new year, I find myself nestled in the heart of Milan, the fashion capital of the world, and believe me, this city is buzzing! But for someone who lives in pink tutus, the buzzing isn't the most appealing thing. Fortunately, they love tutus here in Milan! You wouldn’t believe the exquisite vintage tutus I’ve found tucked away in charming little boutiques!

I know, I know… you’re probably wondering what I'm doing in Milan. Well, let me spill the beans: This fabulously glamorous city was beckoning me like a siren's call! With its incredible fashion scene, historic architecture, and delectable food (Oh, the pasta!), it’s a real treat for a girl who loves to explore.

As I write this, I'm sitting on a very plush red velvet bench in the grand Teatro alla Scala, which just so happens to be the birthplace of La Traviata. How amazing is that?! My current tutu is a pale blush pink that shimmers with sequins, a little nod to the elegant ladies in Milan who grace its cobblestone streets. The atmosphere in this beautiful theatre is buzzing with anticipation. I can’t wait to be swept away by the stories, the costumes, and the beauty of it all.

Now, before I get carried away with the excitement, I’d love to tell you a little bit about how I got here. As usual, I funded this trip by performing my ballet shows. Honestly, there’s no feeling quite like sharing my love of dance and seeing those happy, smiling faces. And since it’s the first day of the year, let’s take a look at how my New Year’s Day went!

New Year’s Day Delights

I started my day in true Pink Tutu style. I woke up in my beautiful little hotel room with the sun streaming through the window and… wait for it… A new tutu! I’ve fallen head-over-heels for this vintage number. It's a vibrant pink with delicate floral patterns and little bits of gold that glimmer as you twirl. This morning I enjoyed a lavish Italian breakfast (think pastries, espresso, and fruit), all the while dreaming up new looks and dances with this stunning tutu.

But this wasn't your typical holiday; the first day of January just wouldn't feel right without a dose of ballet, right?! So, I decided to join a ballet class at a local studio in a charming corner of the city. Honestly, the sheer joy of pirouetting to Italian classical music under the watchful eye of a seasoned maestra is something I could do every day. The best part? The class was absolutely free! I'm not sure if it’s because it was a holiday, but this little surprise just solidified my love for this city even further. After class, I did a bit of wandering and discovered a hidden gem - a street filled with cute cafes and independent shops. I felt like I’d stepped out of a film set! I bought a little gift for my mum - a tiny embroidered hand bag, you’d be surprised what you find tucked away in Milan.

And since no day in Milan is complete without a delightful dose of food, I treated myself to the most scrumptious lunch at a quaint, little cafe in a local park. The flavours were to die for, and the atmosphere was so calming. I swear, the Italians really know how to take it easy. It's definitely something I’m taking back with me.

Tutus and Trains: A Girl's Gotta Move

So, I’ve been hopping around on the Milan public transport system - and my Tutu has certainly caught some attention. From the brightly coloured trams to the sleek, fast trains, it's a very stylish way to travel. My most recent adventures have seen me explore:

  • The Duomo – Words just can't describe its breathtaking beauty! This masterpiece of architecture is something every visitor to Milan needs to experience. I'm planning on spending a few more hours there and I'm convinced it will become my new favorite place in Milan. Don’t forget to catch the sunset for those Pink Tutu Insta-worthy pics. 😉
  • The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II - this glass-domed arcade is a paradise for all things stylish, from designer shops to quirky boutiques and delectable restaurants. If you’re looking for a luxury treat or a unique souvenir, this is your place to be!

You know, it's times like these that I realize the magic of travelling. Each new destination, every journey, each different style of people, and of course every gorgeous new tutu that I buy is an experience I'll cherish forever.

From Milan to the World, Tutu-by-Tutu

Don’t worry, my darling darlings. My mission to encourage you to rock your own pink tutu hasn't slowed down. In fact, I believe the inspiring women of Milan have further motivated me. Every day, I see women confidently carrying themselves, owning their style, and inspiring others to do the same! This makes me want to create a community of passionate tutu wearers who dance through life with confidence and joy. And just like my journey through Milan, it will start one step at a time!

But remember: a pink tutu isn't just about looking fabulous. It's about the power of believing in yourself, celebrating individuality, and embracing the beautiful and inspiring things that make each of us unique.

Keep those pink tutus twirling, darlings. Stay tuned for more Pink Tutu Adventures right here, right now on Pink Tutu Milan! And if you're looking to share your own tutu stories, make sure to tag me on Instagram with #PinkTutuMilan.
