Pink Tutu Milan - Post #1023: A Whirlwind of Pink in the Fashion Capital

Ciao from Milan, darlings!

It's your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina, Emma, reporting live from the fashion capital of the world. This week, I've been absolutely twirling with excitement exploring all that Milan has to offer. This city is a sensory explosion of beauty, with its stunning architecture, exquisite food, and, of course, the fashion. But let's be honest, even amongst all the gorgeous Gucci and Prada, I'm still sticking with my trusty pink tutu, a touch of whimsical whimsy in a city of haute couture.

Milan - My Milanese Musings

This week has been all about embracing the beauty and vibrancy of this Italian gem. From exploring the Duomo's breathtaking façade, with its intricate marble sculptures, to strolling through the manicured gardens of Sempione Park, Milan has captivated my heart with its timeless elegance.

The first thing that struck me about Milan was its incredible architecture. The Duomo, of course, is an architectural masterpiece, and I couldn't resist grabbing a photo with its grand spire in the background. My pink tutu, with its flowing fabric, looked perfectly at home amongst the grandeur.

Then, there's the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, a breathtaking shopping arcade with a glass and iron roof. I found myself surrounded by designer boutiques and art galleries, totally mesmerised by the sheer beauty of the craftsmanship and attention to detail.

From Fashion to Food - My Milanese Delights

Milan isn't just about fashion, though. The food scene here is absolutely divine. From the freshest, most perfectly formed panini in the world (and I'm pretty sure I've tried them all) to the most delicate, handcrafted gelato (it's impossible to choose just one flavour), every bite has been a delightful discovery.

My favourite food adventure was a visit to the Eataly food hall. Imagine an entire floor dedicated to the finest Italian food, from cheeses and wines to pasta and pastries. It was an absolute foodie's paradise.

But beyond the grand eateries and bustling markets, Milan has this magical air of slow living, especially when you find those tucked-away, family-run trattorias. The locals seem to move to the rhythm of the day, taking their time over their meals, chatting with friends and neighbours. And it's just so lovely.

Dancing Through Milan - My Ballet Adventures

As always, I couldn't let a trip to a new city go by without a visit to the ballet. This week, I was lucky enough to catch a performance of “Giselle” at Teatro alla Scala, one of the most famous opera houses in the world.

The energy of the theatre was electrifying! It was truly a magical experience, watching the dancers bring the story of Giselle to life with such grace and precision. And, of course, a pink tutu in the audience was a must!

And it wouldn’t be a Pink Tutu blog post without a ballet class, right? So naturally, I went in search of a class and was delighted to discover a beautiful, intimate studio just off Piazza del Duomo, where I spent an hour gracefully swirling in the midst of the other dancers.

A Little Fashion Shopping for the Tutu Queen

You know I love to shop, right? And when I'm in a city known for its fashion, I can't resist a little bit of retail therapy. My main mission this week was finding some new outfits for my Pink Tutu performances.

I found the perfect pair of sparkly, hot pink ballet shoes that just about matched my favourite tutu - can't wait to wear them on stage! I also discovered a stunning, floaty pink dress, perfect for post-show dinner dates with my fellow dance lovers.

And, of course, no trip to Milan is complete without a visit to the Prada store. The architectural design of this store is enough to take your breath away. Even though the price tags were a bit too hefty for my student budget, I spent an hour wandering through the colourful collections. A little girl can dream, right?

Riding the Rails and Taking in the Scenery

When exploring a new city, I'm a big fan of public transport, especially trams. There's something about the slow, leisurely pace that allows me to really soak in the sights and sounds. Plus, it's the perfect opportunity to people-watch and observe all the different styles that Milan has to offer. I found myself daydreaming, imagining my own clothing collection.

I also had the pleasure of taking a train trip from Milan to Lake Como. The journey was just as beautiful as the destination. Rolling green hills dotted with charming villages whizzed by the windows. I spent most of the journey sketching, trying to capture the picturesque beauty of the countryside in my journal.

My Milan Mission - Spread the Tutu Love!

You know what? As I continue on this amazing pink tutu adventure, one thing has become clearer than ever. My mission in life is to get everyone in the world to wear a pink tutu.

Okay, so that might be a bit ambitious, but a girl can dream! The pink tutu is all about celebrating femininity, joy, and freedom. I've seen firsthand how it can transform ordinary moments into something special.

Pink Tutu for the World

This week, I saw so many stylish Milanese women strutting down the street with a confidence that exudes elegance. But it reminded me that style is not just about expensive brands. It's about finding what makes you feel confident, expressing yourself, and embracing your own unique charm. And I believe a pink tutu can do that for anyone, regardless of their age or style.

That’s why I’m starting a new movement: Pink Tutu for the World.

No matter where you are, who you are, or what you do, if you feel like wearing a pink tutu, then I say, GO FOR IT! Let your inner ballerina shine through. Embrace the whimsical and unleash your confidence. Because life's too short to be anything other than your fabulous, pink tutu-wearing self.

Until next week, remember to embrace life with a twirl and a smile!

Yours always,

Emma xx
