A Night of Ballet Bliss at Teatro alla Scala
On Tuesday, my dear, I had the privilege of experiencing one of the world's most iconic opera houses – Teatro alla Scala. The moment I stepped into the theatre, I was swept away by a wave of history and grandeur. The plush velvet seats, the intricate chandeliers, and the hushed anticipation hanging in the air - it was simply magical!
The performance, Giselle, a ballet that combines haunting beauty with passionate drama, left me utterly spellbound. The choreography, the costumes, the sheer talent of the dancers - it was a night I'll never forget. There was even a moment when I felt myself twirling in my seat, the sheer energy of the performance practically lifting me off the ground! (Oops! 🤫🤫🤫)
Exploring Milan in Style
When you're in Milan, there's no excuse not to embrace your inner fashionista. So, of course, I had to embark on a shopping spree in the city's world-renowned fashion district. I swear, it's like walking through a wonderland of exquisite fabrics, luxurious leather goods, and the most stunning shoe collections! And what would a shopping expedition be without a dash of pink? Let's just say, my collection of tutus has grown significantly... I may have bought a pair with sequined swans on them. And they matched my new pink leather jacket perfectly!
Discovering the Quirky Charm of Milan's Tramways
To avoid the hustle and bustle of the streets, I've been making full use of Milan's iconic trams. They're not just a means of transportation, they're a window into the city's vibrant life! You get a chance to rub shoulders with locals, marvel at the beautiful architecture as you chug along, and take in the bustling energy of this incredible city. Let's just say, you could spot a tutu or two amongst the colourful characters riding alongside me...
Sunday Funday - A Day of Ballet Inspiration at Teatro degli Arcimboldi
It wouldn't be a trip to Milan without seeing some more spectacular ballet, wouldn't it? This weekend, I’m looking forward to visiting Teatro degli Arcimboldi, a modern and innovative theatre that will play host to a performance of Sleeping Beauty. I hear the set design is inspired by Renaissance paintings and the costumes are out of this world - pure artistry, my dears! I may even bring my own tutu to see if it matches.
Food, Fashion, and Friendships
And let's not forget the food, darlings! Italians are passionate about their food, and rightly so! I've been savouring the authentic flavours of Milan, indulging in everything from steaming bowls of pasta to decadent gelati (you can never have too much pink gelato!). Every meal has been an experience!
As always, one of the best things about travelling is connecting with other ballet enthusiasts, from local dancers to seasoned enthusiasts from across the globe. I've already bumped into some amazing ballet souls, swapping stories and ideas. Isn't it fantastic that our shared passion can bring us together, no matter where we are? It makes the world a much smaller, and definitely much more fun place to dance!

I've already jotted down ideas for next week's post – a deep dive into the world of ballet workshops here, an afternoon spent learning the art of ballet fashion sketching (tututively speaking!) and maybe a peek inside the renowned Teatro alla Scala's ballet archives!
