Pink Tutu Milan #1074: Buongiorno Bella! 🇮🇹

Wednesday 2016-01-06

Hello my darling dears!

It’s Emma from Derbyshire here, writing to you live from sunny, stylish Milan! This is post number 1074 of my weekly blog, Pink Tutu Milan, and it’s a good one!

Remember my mantra – pink tutus for everyone! Every week I spread this joyful message through my travels and by writing this blog - all whilst twirling through some of the most fabulous places in the world. I manage to do it all thanks to my love of ballet; dancing and performing gives me the funds to take these incredible journeys. Every day’s an adventure!

I love nothing more than gliding through city streets, soaking up the sights and sounds - all whilst sporting my very favourite pink tutu! And today’s a good day, darlings. My heart’s a-flutter with excitement! Today is all about Milanese chic!

Milan is magic!

Today I've a whole list of treats in store. We’re going to explore the wonders of this fabulous fashion city!

Firstly, there’s a visit planned to Teatro alla Scala - the world’s most famous opera house - an architectural masterpiece! After all, Milan’s world famous for its incredible architecture - it truly is one of the most stunning places on Earth. Then, a bit of shopping is definitely on the agenda! I’ll be going tutu-crazy at the fashion emporiums, sourcing the perfect pink and sparkling additions to my collection! Oh, and did I mention I’ve booked a thrilling ballet class this afternoon with a world renowned tutor at the La Scala School. Can you even imagine? I just can't wait! I'll try my very best to make my teacher proud with my graceful leaps and turns, all whilst twirling in my signature pink tutu of course! I'll let you know how it goes.

I’ve also got a fun night planned, and who knows - we might even go on a bit of a culinary adventure too! Milan’s food is so delicious - so, naturally, I’m all ready to indulge. Let’s hope we find some delightful Italian fare - but I might try my best to steer clear of the Tiramisu for the sake of my ever-so-pink tutu. A little indulgence now and again can't be helped, I know, but you have to find the balance sometimes.

As usual, we're going to hop about the city by tram and train, getting the best view of its captivating corners. There's something about traveling on public transport that gives a chance to really see a city’s heart. You meet the locals, see their day to day routines and, even, get a glimpse into their lives - something that never gets old!

Pink tutus galore!

Before I let you go, I thought I’d let you in on a little secret, darling readers: Today’s going to be extra special, and it's all because of an amazing new initiative I’m launching in Milan - it’s going to help everyone express their inner ballerina!

You see, my Pink Tutu mission isn't just about looking fabulous - although, let’s be honest, who doesn’t love looking and feeling glamorous in pink tulle? It’s much deeper than that - it's about unleashing your inner joy and expressing your creativity! So I’ve devised a very special pink tutu parade - just imagine it - a symphony of twirling, a riot of pink tulle and pure joyful expression!

The grand idea is to bring the Pink Tutu love to the very heart of Milan - to let its incredible spirit take flight. I plan to start by organizing a flash mob at the most central landmark in the city - the magnificent Duomo!

We’ll all be twirling our pink tutus with an air of joyous abandon, inviting everyone we meet to join us! Imagine it - the Piazza del Duomo will come alive with vibrant colour! And I'll be right there amongst you, my fellow twirlers, encouraging everyone to be part of this magical ballet in the streets of Milan.

Can you imagine the joy, the creativity and the energy? I think the whole of Milan will fall in love with our Pink Tutu message. This will be the perfect Milanese-tastic finale to this incredible day.

So there you have it, darlings! This is the wonderful plan I’ve cooked up. Stay tuned for next week’s Pink Tutu blog to hear all about my incredible day. Be sure to share this post with all your friends and help spread the Pink Tutu message,

Ciao for now and remember: every day’s a ballet with Pink Tutu Milan!

What’s on today in Milan - 2016-01-06

Classical Music

The iconic Teatro alla Scala is an unmissable stop when in Milan! Here’s a glimpse into what’s on today -

  • Verdi’s La traviata

    Ballet & Dance

A bit of Parisian flair: Check out this special dance piece. A Parisian ballet at the Theatre Carcano - Paris 2020.

    Art & Exhibitions:

Milan’s packed full of galleries - here’s a couple that caught my eye today, they might inspire your inner art critic!

  • Palazzo Reale

The Renaissance Master: Go see the exquisite collection by artist Piero della Francesca in “La Madonna Del Parto” – An Exhibition

  • Triennale Milano

    Food & Fashion!

The Milan Fashion Week! A Fashion Fair and event is being held from January 8th to 14th! If you’re a fashionista, then you must take a look around here. It’s so fashionable and it just happens to have the most delectable Italian treats on sale!

    Getting around!

I've been loving riding on the tram here - the ‘M’ symbol makes it easy to recognize. If you find yourself going in to the heart of the city you’ll likely come across the Duomo tram stop - easy to spot! If you prefer to explore by foot, then just try to avoid walking in peak hour - you’ll soon discover just how popular the Milanese pavements are. But you don’t have to fear! It’s safe and so lovely!

Fashion Forward

What’s caught my eye today:

  1. I’m feeling glamorous: With the Milano fashion week happening soon I’m sure you’re wanting to embrace your glamorous side! If you’re looking for some inspiration for outfits - why not try something a little different - how about a simple silk dress and some stylish flat shoes. Perfect for strolling around in style and comfort!
  2. Don’t be shy! Embrace a bit of pink. It really suits everyone.
  3. Accessorize to perfection: Don’t be afraid to wear those fabulous earrings that add just that special touch - go bold and feel like you are at a ball. And don't forget a stylish bag - that can really pull your outfit together.

I love coming to Milan – the people are friendly and it's so stylish! There’s so much history, architecture, culture and beauty! You really can see it all here! It’s a city that keeps giving and I just can’t get enough of it - and the food – well it’s something else entirely! But back to tutus, I just love how they go with anything! If you are thinking about coming to Milan then I’d be happy to suggest some things to see! It’s truly an unforgettable place and it’s my mission to help spread its wonder.

I hope you are all well - until next time. Keep twirling!

Ciao!
