Pink Tutu Milan - Wednesday 2016-08-31 - Post 1108!
Ciao bella!
This week has been a whirlwind, and I can't believe it's already Wednesday. Milan is such a captivating city, it just sucks you in with its elegant architecture, chic boutiques and fabulous atmosphere. And let me tell you, even a tiny little ballet bird like me feels utterly spoilt for choice!
Now, let me rewind a little... You see, I touched down in Milan on Sunday, and as I hopped off the train at Milano Centrale station, I felt a tingle of excitement in my pink tutu. My apartment is in the heart of the city, nestled amidst cobblestone streets and the rhythmic hum of the local trams. It's a charming little place, bursting with vintage Italian furniture and vibrant accents of, you guessed it, pink! (A girl's gotta stay true to her colours, eh?)
Ballet Bonanza - A Sneak Peek into the Theatre
First things first - Milan is synonymous with stunning theatre! And you can bet your sparkly ballet shoes I wouldn't miss the opportunity to visit the Teatro alla Scala, a true temple of opera and ballet. Now, I'm not going to spoil the details of what's on tonight, but I can tell you it involves breathtaking costumes, graceful movements, and an orchestra that could melt your heart. Trust me, I'll be sharing all the glitz and glamour with you next week.
Trolley-ing Around Town: The Tram Adventures of Pink Tutu
Yesterday, I took a little journey aboard Milan's efficient, charming tram system. Imagine it - me in my favourite pink tulle, soaring past charming piazzas and picturesque buildings! You know I always enjoy these "Pink Tutu Tram" escapades. People are so intrigued by the sight, some even give a little smile and wave - I love seeing the joy my little touch of colour brings!
The Hunt for the Perfect Pink Pair
Milan, with its fabulous boutiques and buzzing markets, is simply heaven for any fashion-conscious ballerina! On my shopping adventures, I unearthed a pair of the most divine pink ballet shoes I've ever seen. Let me tell you, they were tucked away in a charming little shop, just waiting to be discovered by a little bird like me. Of course, I bought them – wouldn’t be right to leave them behind, right? The colour was divine - almost a blushing sunset shade. Can't wait to showcase them in my next performance!
A Touch of Pink in Every Corner
As you know, finding the perfect shade of pink is something I take quite seriously! I've been on a quest this week to find that elusive perfect shade. You wouldn't believe how many variations I’ve seen, from soft pastels to vibrant neons - it's quite overwhelming!
Speaking of colours, I absolutely fell in love with this beautiful pink gelato stall tucked away on a quiet street. The stall owner told me a tale about how pink gelato was all the rage in the 50s and he used a family recipe! I sampled their strawberry and rose concoction and, wow, it was just divine. I think pink gelato will become a weekly ritual for me during my time in Milan!
Making New Friends: A Touch of Ballet Magic
You know how much I love sharing my love of dance! And here in Milan, I've found some incredibly talented and enthusiastic ballet dancers! Yesterday, I popped into a little dance studio off Via Monte Napoleone and struck up a conversation with a lovely group of aspiring dancers. We even chatted about our favourite tutu designs and discussed upcoming ballet performances. Such fun and friendly, I can't wait to meet them all again!
Finding a little Piece of Derbyshire in Milan
Believe it or not, you can even find a little slice of home in Milan. While exploring the city centre, I stumbled upon a charming cafe tucked away near the Teatro alla Scala, called "The Little Lamb" They had a selection of Derbyshire ales, a classic British comfort food menu, and, most importantly, a cozy little fireplace for chilly evenings! Now, that was a welcome touch of home on a rainy afternoon!
Sharing My Passion: Pink Tutu - a Universal Language
My motto? "Wear Pink, Dance Bold!" You see, tutus aren't just a costume, they're an embodiment of dreams, joy and self-expression. Whether you're pirouetting across a stage or simply twirling down the street, the pink tutu always makes you feel confident and magical. I think it’s a universal language – everyone can understand the joy that it represents!
That's all for today, darlings! As always, be sure to pop over to the Pink Tutu website at www.pink-tutu.com where I'll be posting weekly updates from my Milan adventure!
I'm off now, but before I sign off, I have a little question for you: What's your favourite shade of pink? Let me know in the comments!
Stay twirling and stylish,
Emma xx
