Pink Tutu Milan: Ciao Bella, Milan! #1112

Wednesday 2016-09-28

Oh my darling tutu wearers! Another week has flown by, filled with twirls and trips, and I'm so excited to tell you all about my time in Milan, the fashion capital of Italy! It's my favourite city for a fashion fix, with stunning architecture, delicious food, and enough shoes to make even Cinderella faint!

As you know, my travels are funded by my ballet performances. This week I’ve been teaching at a lovely studio in the suburbs and performing at a private party last night, which was a lot of fun. I was able to show off a few new steps I've been learning - I’ve been feeling inspired by all the amazing dancers I've seen in Milan! They move like liquid silk and have so much power and grace – I just adore watching them. It makes me want to twirl for hours and hours!

I arrived in Milan this morning by train. I love the excitement of arriving in a new city and the anticipation of the adventures that lie ahead. Today I decided to take the tram across town to explore some of the famous fashion houses, which was a lovely journey. The streets were bustling with shoppers, and there were beautiful buildings at every turn.

First, I headed to Via Montenapoleone, a street known for its luxury boutiques. I felt a bit like a princess stepping into a fairytale, surrounded by gorgeous designer shoes, handbags, and clothes. Even if you're not going to buy anything, just window shopping is enough to make you feel fabulous! I treated myself to a delicious gelato, and my taste buds were transported to another world!

A Peek at Ballet History

Then it was time for some ballet magic! I made my way to Teatro alla Scala, the most famous opera house in Milan, and a building so beautiful it's like a fairytale! My love for ballet began in the UK, but stepping into a historical theatre like this is always a thrill.

Today I wanted to take a peek behind the scenes and understand the history of this iconic theatre, which has hosted so many legendary dancers. The theatre's archives are fascinating. There's so much beauty in history - it's the best reminder of the art forms and movements that we love.

For dinner I enjoyed the local pasta in a cute trattoria I found. The portion was HUGE - and so delicious! I didn't manage to eat it all - my appetite wasn’t as huge as my appetite for adventure, which meant I was able to visit the market before making my way back to the studio!

The Heart of Milan

Tonight I'm taking a trip to Piazza Duomo which is at the heart of Milan, a vast space dominated by the stunning Duomo Cathedral, one of the largest Gothic cathedrals in the world, with soaring spires and intricate decorations.

It's a lively square and always packed with people going about their lives. I find myself so easily transported by these magical scenes. Everyone's chatting, there's delicious street food to tempt you with its flavours and the street performers make the square so much fun to explore. It’s a place I could wander around for hours!

There's nothing quite like exploring a new place on your own, but it's always so nice to have someone to share the experience with. And tonight, I have my very own ballerina entourage - a group of students from my class who've joined me for the evening! We'll grab some pizza, enjoy the view and talk about all things ballet, fashion and our dreams for the future.

Tomorrow is a big day, I have a fantastic dance class at a nearby dance studio - one of the many fabulous places that teach ballet in Milan. I’m so excited! The studio has a really lovely airy feel. And I always love to see the different people there, young and old. We share the love of ballet and I often meet students and teachers who have travelled from all over the world!

Fashion Inspiration

I can’t wait to tell you all about the class and the fashion show in the evening. I plan to show off a new pink tutu. I love everything pink! Milan always gets me in the mood for some fabulously stylish shopping, and it wouldn't be a proper trip to Milan without some time dedicated to finding a fabulous new outfit to add to my collection. I think I’ve discovered a lovely vintage store! I’m excited to check it out and get inspired!

So there you have it - another magical day in Milan.

Until next time my darlings - stay stylish and keep on twirling!
