Pink Tutu Milan #1140: Ciao Bella, Milan! 🩰💖

Ciao bella, darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad ballerina blogger, Emma, back with you from the fashion capital of the world: Milan, Italia! This week's blog is bursting with a glorious kaleidoscope of colour, a whirlwind of creativity, and, of course, a whole lot of tutus.

After the magic of Paris (which you can catch up on [link to Paris blog]), I hopped on a glorious high-speed train, a blur of pink and lavender landscapes, straight to Milan. My journey felt like a ballet itself, each station a stage, every view a beautifully painted backdrop.

A Touch of Pink on the Piazza Duomo:

Now, my dears, you just wouldn't believe the welcome I received. As soon as I stepped onto the bustling streets of Milan, a wave of pink enveloped me! From the blooming cherry blossoms lining the cobbled streets to the gorgeous pink marble accents on the Duomo itself, this city was practically tailor-made for my love of all things rosy. The grand Duomo itself felt like a giant, intricately carved ballet costume – imagine the tulle, the lace, the intricate detailing – all in magnificent stone!

Ballet in Milan: Finding My Feet

But of course, no trip to Milan would be complete without some ballet. You know I just have to get my toes tapping in any city with a decent stage! My first stop was the magnificent Teatro alla Scala. Standing in its grand foyer, my heart almost burst with excitement. Just to be in the presence of such artistry felt like a ballet in itself. Sadly, it was closed for a few days during my visit, so instead, I explored the Teatro Arcimboldi. It was a bit less "opulent-old-world-ballet" and a little more modern, which was still wonderfully enchanting in its own way.

You simply must visit the Arcimboldi. The stage is massive – bigger than I’ve ever seen before. They have opera, ballet, even musicals! It’s pretty impressive.

Fashion Fantasy:

Let's talk about the shopping! This is the Holy Grail, darlings! Milan is simply a feast for the senses - and for the sartorial eye! From the sleek boutiques of Via Montenapoleone to the vintage finds of Corso Buenos Aires, this city offers a stunning spectrum of fashion. The sheer creativity and flair oozing from every window made my heart skip a beat, my tutu-wearing toes start to tap.

Every corner of Milan was a fashion runway - I felt like I was in a permanent photo shoot. From the elegant ladies strolling through the piazzas in their impeccably tailored coats, to the street style influencers with their effortless grace, Milan is a melting pot of individual style.

The Glam Tram and The Taste of Italy

While Milan's glamorous reputation makes it a top tourist destination, I quickly discovered that it's so much more than just fashion and fame. In between shows and shopping sprees, I took to the tram. You'll find me quite at home on any public transport. This vibrant, pulsating city can be discovered at ground level. From my vantage point on the tram, the locals' energy seeped into me. There’s a real artistic vibe to the city, just like it vibrates through the stages and catwalks of Milan.

And let’s talk about the food! This is a very big topic in Milan! Italian food… my absolute weakness. Delicious pizzas (they’re pretty much perfect in Milan, honestly, they really are!) pasta dishes (everything!), and of course, a beautiful Italian Gelato. They have so many flavors to choose from, I couldn’t resist sampling a few… You know I couldn’t possibly let an opportunity to taste the famous, delicious flavours pass by!

Fashion Inspiration:

Milan's fashion influence was tangible in the air, even in the cafes. It was inspiring! I spotted beautiful pieces everywhere: a silk scarf draped carelessly around a cafe owner's neck, a floral print dress on a passing woman, the sharp silhouette of a man’s suit. Each detail spoke of Milan's unparalleled dedication to sartorial elegance. I’ve come away from my trip feeling more inspired than ever to incorporate all the style cues I’ve learned from Milan into my own outfits and wardrobe.

The Dance Goes On:

My time in Milan was all too brief, but I managed to fit in a little bit of everything – ballet, fashion, food, and a little bit of sunshine too! This vibrant city, bursting with creative energy, has truly made its mark on my pink-tutu-loving heart. The city felt as vibrant as a ballet stage, the atmosphere as electrifying as a thrilling final act.

And, my dears, you know I always share the joy – this week, I’m challenging you to embrace your inner ballerina, embrace a bit of colour in your life. Pick a shade of pink, or any colour that sparks joy, and wear it with pride!

Until next time, stay glamorous, and keep those toes tappin' (or better yet, keep your tutus spinning!).

Yours in pink and sequins, Emma 💖🩰

What's Coming Up This Week:

So, what was happening in Milan during my trip? Well, 2017-04-12 was a special day indeed! It was the opening night of “La Bohème”, by Giacomo Puccini. Imagine a timeless opera, sung by incredible voices, in that stunning setting – breathtaking, darling!

For those of you who love the art of dance and music, take a look at the Teatro Arcimboldi’s schedule this week! There are some very exciting pieces planned – a beautiful new rendition of "Romeo & Juliet", and a breathtaking modern ballet production of “Carmen”.

It's almost time for my weekly shopping trip, and I am obsessed with the idea of finding the perfect Milanese-inspired outfit – imagine, something flowy and feminine with the perfect splash of pink. Stay tuned for photos!

This is just a taste of my adventure. Come back next week for more, darling! I promise it'll be just as fun and glamorous, filled with even more delicious eats, beautiful places, and of course, tutus!

And please! Tell me what you love about the colours pink and lavender, or share any ideas you might have about incorporating more tutus in your wardrobe! You know I’m all ears!
