Pink Tutu Milan - #1155 - 2017-07-26: Milan's Magical Mondays!

Hello, my darling pink tutu-loving friends! Emma here, your favourite pink-clad ballerina, live from the dazzling city of Milan! This week, the pink tutu is swirling and twirling right here in the heart of Italian style! Milan's Monday is truly magical, just wait until you hear about it all...

This week’s Pink Tutu Milan is about all things pink, tutus, theatre, and travelling. I had the best time shopping in some of Milan's top stores, seeing a wonderful theatre performance, and soaking up the atmosphere of this captivating city. I think it’s the colour, darling. I just adore the warmth of Italy and its glorious summer days, filled with the aroma of fresh pastries and steaming espresso!

Trams, Trains and The Perfect Outfit

My adventure began in my usual style - hopping on a bright red tram, clutching my trusty Pink Tutu bag and, of course, adorned in my favourite pink tutu, a flowing chiffon number I picked up at a vintage boutique in my hometown, Derbyshire. My travels this week were about making a statement, bringing a bit of ballerina sparkle to Milan.

My travels have become so much easier now, with a new collection of clothes designed specifically for train travel - it is a real fashion revolution! I'm all about looking fab whilst remaining comfortable on those long journeys! This week, I added a gorgeous pink silk scarf for an extra touch of Milanese flair, tied just so with a perfectly placed diamante brooch.

Milan's tram system is so charming, weaving through narrow streets lined with boutiques and gelato shops. The smell of coffee and fresh pastries filled the air as I gazed out of the window, planning my day’s pink adventures.

The Magic of Milan’s Shopping Wonderland

Shopping is an absolute must in Milan, darling! My heart skips a beat at the sight of high-end boutiques lining the grand avenues. This week I headed straight for Via Monte Napoleone. Just stepping out of the tram, I could see my reflection in the shiny shop windows, adorned with glamorous window displays showcasing the latest designs from all the major fashion houses. Oh, the lure of those beautifully displayed handbags and sparkling shoes… I couldn't resist!

First stop, Dolce & Gabbana, where I tried on a pair of stunning heels - all sparkle and drama, with intricate beading and a touch of the iconic D&G black and white. They were perfect! I love their playful use of pink and how they always manage to incorporate so much drama into their designs.

Next on the itinerary, the ever-so-elegant Gucci. There I found a dazzling pink feather boa, the perfect touch to make any outfit sparkle. I could just picture myself strolling through Milan's cobbled streets in the evening, feeling fabulous with that gorgeous feather boa swirling around me.

But wait! What’s a trip to Milan without a visit to Prada? That was next on the list. There, in the grand salon, my eyes met a dream – the perfect pink cashmere sweater with an embroidered ballet shoe! It's the perfect balance of femininity and chic - exactly my style. I decided I must have it, and couldn't leave the store without it!

An Evening of Enchanting Opera

After a delicious pasta lunch, enjoyed at a little trattoria in a side street, I headed for the Teatro alla Scala for a special performance of 'La Traviata' by Verdi. I found the most charming little cafe nestled in a quiet courtyard, tucked away near the Scala, just to put on my 'ballet bling' and add a little pink shimmer!

I admit, my Pink Tutu heart skipped a beat when I walked into the majestic Teatro alla Scala. I felt so tiny, surrounded by grand arches, gold decorations, and rich red velvet seats, each with a perfect view of the stage. The energy of the crowd was tangible; I could sense a sense of anticipation, the magic of the upcoming performance weaving its spell through the theatre.

As the opera began, I was captivated. The stunning costumes, the melodic voices of the singers, the exquisite choreography, and the masterful playing of the orchestra filled the theatre, the emotions of love, loss, and passion radiating into the audience.

'La Traviata', darling, is the ultimate story of romance and tragedy. It had all the elements: beautiful music, stunning dance routines, and those beautiful Italian love stories that always captivate me. Even if the love story did end with the lady dying in the arms of her beloved! I admit, I had a few tears rolling down my face, but, oh darling, what a beautiful production! I think it may be the loveliest opera I have seen.

More Milan Monday Mayhem!

Following my spectacular evening at the Scala, I discovered a hidden gem: the Palazzo Litta! Located just a stone’s throw away from the opera house, it’s an absolutely magnificent palace with stunning architecture, rich history and beautiful, manicured gardens. There, in its opulent courtyard, I watched an incredible performance by some incredible Italian street dancers, dancing and choreographing ballet in front of this incredible landmark! I found my inspiration in those talented young dancers! The music they selected added an enchanting element, it all reminded me of those famous street dancing scenes in “Fame”! It was utterly inspirational, so I added this spot to my Pink Tutu must-see list.

Now, here's my big announcement! My darling Pink Tutu fans! Because this whole week has just been such a success - the Pink Tutu Milan tour of shopping, ballet, and exploring has gone so well! I am planning another adventure in Milan, with even more Pink Tutu fabulousness in store, just waiting to be explored.
