Pink Tutu Milan #1285: Ballet Bliss in the City of Style!

Buongiorno, darlings! It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina, and I'm practically bouncing with excitement because I'm back in the heart of fashion - Milan, Italy!

This week, as the snow continues to fall outside (a beautiful, magical, fluffy blanket) I'm wrapping myself in the warmth of all things ballet. Milan has always had a special place in my heart for the graceful spirit of ballet, and this week's adventures have been overflowing with tutus, tutus, and even more tutus!

Now, as a true fashionista, I knew a trip to Milan wouldn't be complete without a visit to Pinko - a shop bursting with colourful, feminine clothing that practically begs you to embrace your inner fashionista. It’s the perfect place to find a fab pink outfit for ballet night, wouldn't you say? After all, there's nothing more dazzling than a perfectly pink outfit on a ballet evening. And of course, my journey through the streets of Milan was just begging for some beautiful, inspiring shots, don't you think? So, picture this - me, in a swirly, pastel pink skirt with a gorgeous pink sweater, twirling around the city's beautiful squares, and catching every sparkle of the setting sun!

I'm loving my floral brogues, my absolute go-to shoes for walking around the city and for my morning ballet class at the Teatro alla Scala. My floral shoes add a little extra flair and a hint of femininity to every look! Oh, speaking of Teatro alla Scala, did you know they just announced their Spring season programme? You know me, a huge ballet buff! The greatest treat of the week? Being gifted a pair of gorgeous red silk ballet shoes, oh yes! The gift of a pair of silky-soft red shoes to match my new red tutu, from one of my biggest ballet fans - my Mum. You wouldn't believe the beautiful embroidery of this incredible red tutu. A real vintage treasure. I even got to slip into my new red tutus for a twirl around Duomo Square.

Oh, did I mention trams? They're not just a great way to navigate the city – they're a window into the heart of Milan. The rhythmic rumble of the tracks against the cobblestones, the soft murmur of chatter between the passengers, it's all so wonderfully Parisian, but with that extra Italian flair.

My Milan Diary, always growing ever more fabulous! A ballerina's life isn't just about perfect pliés, you know! It’s about exploring, discovering new shops, and soaking up the beauty of the world – tutu, of course! Don't worry, my travel plans won't be keeping me away from sharing all the exciting ballet stories, news, and performance experiences from this whirlwind journey. This week on Pink Tutu, you can also find a gorgeous 'Get the Look' feature of my outfit for last night's opera at Teatro alla Scala, and a DIY tutorial on making a stylish ballet tutu in pink! You don’t need a fancy boutique for ballet gear - get creative with fabric and yarn and embrace that lovely ‘upcycled’ look.

Before I run off to my next ballet adventure, I wanted to let you know about something rather special – I'm planning to host a Pink Tutu Pop-up shop in Derbyshire this coming Summer, just outside the city of Derby. It’s still early days, but I'm super excited to finally give something back to my ballet-loving friends and family in Derbyshire. My first little ballet boutique where we’ll be hosting a 'tutu making’ session for little ballerinas - and for those with bigger feet who fancy getting creative! Who’d have thought ‘The Ballet School' was once housed within this little, local cafe in Derbyshire? A lifetime ago, but always a part of me. Maybe it’s a sign? Anyway, I’ll keep you updated on the Pink Tutu Pop-up shop!

Until next time, my darlings, twirl with style, live life in your pinkest tutu, and never stop chasing your dreams!

Emma

Here's a quick recap of my day - all about Milan:

Morning: * Breakfast on a bustling Piazza - pastries, coffee, watching the world go by, it's an everyday ritual that I'm addicted to! The best pastries here! I tried these gorgeous mini bread-ring donuts, so yummy! I have no idea what the word was in Italian, but I’d know them anywhere! * A ballet class at Teatro alla Scala (it’s every dancer’s dream!). It’s incredible - imagine training in this prestigious building! My dreams coming true! I got the opportunity to dance with this absolutely amazing and charming Spanish dance artist who was training with one of Teatro alla Scala’s most incredible prima ballerinas. * Exploring the nearby fashion districts (including Pinko) for a bit of shopping! That vintage red tutu at the boutique - pure magic!

Afternoon:

* * *Tram rides through Milan - such an elegant and historical city to explore by tram. *
* * *
Visiting the Duomo Square, one of Milan’s most iconic places. And where I took a rather impressive photo twirling in my new vintage tutu. *
* * Taking pictures in front of beautiful historic landmarks (I’m definitely bringing my ballet shoes on this journey so that I can get a picture at every beautiful and memorable location *

Evening: * * Enjoying an incredible opera at the Teatro alla Scala, such an inspiring and romantic evening*

I’m making all my tutu dreams come true, and I can't wait to see what happens in Milan! See you next Monday with an update about my Pink Tutu journey and my thoughts about the Spring season here in Milan!

Until next Monday, twirl and twirl,

Emma
