Pink Tutu Milan: #1341 🩰💖

Ciao bellas!

Welcome back to another dazzling edition of Pink Tutu Milan! I'm so excited to be sharing this week's adventures with you from the stylish streets of Milan. As you all know, my heart is firmly in Derbyshire, but the vibrant energy of Italy has truly captured my spirit. Every day is a whirlwind of stunning architecture, delicious food, and, of course, plenty of ballet!

Before I delve into this week's pink-tastic highlights, let's have a quick chat about those glorious tutus! I'm currently sporting my signature bubblegum pink tutu, a dreamy creation with delicate layers and a touch of sparkle. It's like a fluffy cloud of joy, and it's got me feeling perfectly on point for a day of exploring Milan.

Speaking of exploration, I'm loving the ease and charm of travelling by tram here. It's such a lovely way to soak in the atmosphere, people watching and taking in the beauty of Milan's historical streets. Yesterday, I took a ride on Tram 19, one of the iconic red trams, and felt like a true Italian for the day!

And as I navigate the bustling city, I’m never far from the enticing scent of fresh pasta and steaming espresso. Milan’s food scene is a revelation, offering endless flavours and culinary delights. My personal favourite? Risotto alla Milanese, with its saffron-infused aroma and creamy texture. It’s pure indulgence!

A Ballet Wonderland

Now, let's get to the real reason for my Milan adventures: ballet! As you all know, this is my passion, my everything.

I was incredibly lucky to secure tickets to a performance of "The Sleeping Beauty" at the Teatro alla Scala on Tuesday evening. It was an unforgettable experience! The scale of the production, the intricate sets, and the flawless execution of the dancers left me utterly spellbound. I felt like I was transported to another world, a world of magic and beauty.

Seeing "The Sleeping Beauty" again, reminded me of my absolute favourite tutu moment! That’s when I first fell in love with the idea of tutus for everyone.

As the choreographer presented Aurora, a young, graceful ballerina adorned with a breathtaking pink tutu, my little ballerina heart nearly exploded. It’s the most magical, graceful, yet utterly elegant look. That was the day, my friends, that the Pink Tutu revolution truly began.

And wouldn't you know it, I found the most amazing vintage boutique just down the street from the Scala. It's overflowing with delicate silk scarves and vintage hats, a veritable treasure trove of style! Imagine my delight when I discovered a beautiful hand-painted pink scarf with tiny ballerinas twirling around! I snatched it up for a very reasonable price, and it’s already my newest favourite accessory.

This afternoon, I treated myself to a private ballet lesson at a studio tucked away in a quiet, sun-drenched courtyard. The space was airy and luminous, perfect for unleashing my inner ballerina. My instructor was a fantastic young woman, full of energy and grace. She pushed me to work on my technique and instilled a sense of confidence within me.

This evening, I’m planning to join the crowd enjoying the "Festival della luce," where Milan’s famous architecture is beautifully lit up for the whole week. Imagine my delight, after walking a bit from my charming apartment in the centre of town, finding the Teatro alla Scala itself adorned with lights for this fantastic Festival! The magnificent structure looked stunning, illuminated against the darkening sky.

Sharing the Pink Tutu Love

Being here in Milan, amidst such a vibrant artistic community, is inspiring and motivating. It reinforces my dream of getting the world wearing a pink tutu! I’ve met a group of fantastic girls who dance at a school just a little way from the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, which I visit every few days. They adore ballet and are happy to try out different pink tutu styles for a future post!

Fashion Fling

I wouldn’t be in Milan without taking in the world of fashion here. My friend Carla is a personal shopper, and I can't resist her persuasive charms and advice. This week we’re planning a shopping trip to the charming boutiques and shops nestled along the Navigli.

What’s Going on in Milan this week?

From 17th - 20th February, there is an incredible exhibit of art, “Arte Fiera,” in Bologna. A mere two hour train journey away! Bologna is home to many wonderful art galleries. It will be my next destination in a couple of weeks.

Also taking place this week is a beautiful contemporary dance festival: *“Festival Internazionale di Danza Contemporanea." * I plan to take a peak and see if anything inspires me!

This week in the pink tutu, I'm feeling inspired by the incredible energy of Milan, feeling blessed by the magic of ballet, and definitely ready to keep the pink tutu love flowing! I hope you all are wearing pink tutus and having fun with your adventures too. Until next time, keep it pink and keep it twirling!

Love,

Emma 🩰💖
