Pink Tutu Milan: Post 1357 - Wednesday, 2021-06-09

Ciao, darlings! It’s Emma, your favourite pink-tutu-clad ballet blogger, back with another instalment of my Milan adventures.

Today I’m overflowing with excitement. It’s Wednesday, which means the start of my week in Milan, and what a week it promises to be! From the moment I stepped off the train this morning, my senses were overwhelmed by the vibrant energy of this beautiful city. I can already feel the familiar buzz of excitement. Milan is the epitome of style and culture, and it always makes my heart sing.

The Colour of Dreams:

Milan is the place where pink tutus just happen. I mean, just imagine. You're walking down a cobbled street, past a stunning cathedral and elegant boutiques, and then you see it: a little girl in a bright pink tutu, pirouetting on the pavement with the grace of a true ballerina. Doesn't that just melt your heart? It does mine every single time.

Speaking of tutus, I finally tracked down the most fabulous tutu shop tucked away in a quaint little backstreet near the Duomo. The moment I stepped inside, it was like entering a fairytale world. Glittering fabrics, flowing tulle, and a dazzling array of sequins danced before my eyes. It's the perfect place to pick up a few treats for my growing pink tutu collection (because a girl can never have too many tutus, right?)

Fashion Frenzy:

Of course, a trip to Milan wouldn't be complete without a serious shopping spree. This week, my mission is to find the perfect new dress for a special event I'm attending on Saturday night. I'm dreaming of something elegant and chic, with a touch of Parisian flair. A bold print, a fitted silhouette - the possibilities are endless! I can already envision it, swishing around the dance floor in this new, fabulously pink number.

Speaking of events, there’s a fantastic exhibition at the Museo del Novecento today, celebrating the life and work of a celebrated Italian artist who heavily influenced fashion design. I'm planning to wear my favourite new vintage tutu, a pale pink creation with cascading layers and beautiful lace trim. This outfit screams "artistic appreciation" while remaining decidedly "Emma".

A Ballerina's Journey:

Since I’m here to immerse myself in all things ballet, I couldn't miss the chance to attend a captivating performance at the Teatro alla Scala tonight. This legendary venue has hosted some of the greatest ballet stars in history. Can you even imagine the electricity in the air as those world-famous ballerinas gracefully dance across the stage? I’m planning on staying around for a glass of Prosecco with some lovely people from the theatre – what a way to spend an evening!

Of course, no ballerina trip would be complete without a class! I'm planning to hit up the world-renowned Teatro alla Scala’s dance academy. My body and soul need this fix of pure ballet, and to feel the energy from other passionate dancers. It’s a good excuse to push myself to new heights and discover even more of my inner ballerina.

A Tram-tastic Ride Through Milan:

Before you ask, I will, of course, be taking a trip on the famous Milanese tram. It's the most elegant form of public transport I’ve ever seen. It’s practically a vintage film set! And as always, I’ll be doing it in style, twirling my way across Milan in my pinkest tutu. And to ensure maximum glamour, I'll be packing my trusty pink shopping bag - the perfect accessory for any ballerinas' day out in the city.

Life on a Pink Cloud:

So, there you have it, another whirlwind week in Milan. My adventures continue to fill my heart with joy, my soul with inspiration, and my wardrobe with plenty of lovely pink things. Each week, Milan seems to unveil a new layer of beauty, and my heart simply can’t get enough. And just wait until you hear what’s on my itinerary next week! I'm already getting giddy just thinking about it…

Stay tuned, darlings. It’s going to be magical.

Remember, don't be shy - leave a comment below and tell me your thoughts on all things pink and tutu!

Until next week,

Emma

P.S. Have you ever worn a pink tutu? If not, what's stopping you?! Tell me your favourite things about ballet! I want to hear it all. It’s pink tutu season! Go on, let’s make it happen.

Behind the Blog: The Heart of a Pink Tutu Blogger

You know, this whole Pink Tutu adventure started quite simply. I was just a young girl from Derbyshire with a passion for ballet. There were those beautiful tutus in the shop, but I was too shy to try one on. But, on that day, something inside me shifted. I walked into that shop with a pink tutu on my head (because every princess wears a crown!), and it was an amazing feeling. I started making my own pink tutus, even dancing down the high street with a giant pink tutu! Then came the idea of starting a blog and the rest, well, that’s history!

Every week, I feel the buzz of anticipation as I prepare my Milan blog post. It’s always so exciting to tell you what’s happening, from exploring the city’s cultural offerings to trying new things that might even inspire your own inner ballerina.

A lot of you have written in asking about how I fund my travels, and to be honest, it takes some careful planning! The beautiful truth is that my performances cover my expenses. That means dancing and touring in different places all over the world – it’s an incredible journey! Sometimes I also write a little for fashion magazines and do some model work – all part of the dance!

My little dance company has performed at the prestigious Festival Ballet (a massive experience, even with the pressure) and a smaller, but no less important show in Derbyshire. The company has come from literally nothing, which means my heart overflows when I see each and every performer on the stage! There's a magic about being part of a ballet troupe that’s hard to explain.

There is a wonderful spirit and family within a dance company, where each of us shares this passionate desire to create something beautiful and moving on stage. That’s where the pink tutus come in. I feel like each one embodies the spirit of every ballerinas in our company. The twirling, the grace, and the joy of making music with our bodies is part of that story.

One of the greatest gifts I have received since embarking on this Pink Tutu adventure has been meeting so many people who share this passion for ballet, and a love of everything pink!

Sometimes I look at myself in the mirror and see a young girl, full of dreams, gazing back at me. There is an excitement about discovering new things that comes through in the blog posts and videos. This pink tutu journey has truly been a whirlwind of love and happiness. And you’re all part of it. Thank you for coming along on this amazing journey with me!

Now, my dears, tell me - have you had a chance to check out my Instagram or TikTok accounts? There’s always a ton of extra content that isn’t shared here on my blog, plus some extra tutu inspiration! Find me @pinktutu_emma on both. And you can see what happened in Milan last week in blog post number 1356!

Keep those pink tutu dreams coming. And remember - life is a beautiful ballet, waiting to be danced.

Yours in Pink,

Emma
