Buongiorno, darlings! It's Emma from Pink Tutu, writing to you live from the heart of Milan, Italy! I'm absolutely buzzing with excitement about this week, and it's all thanks to the glorious, vibrant colour of pink. It’s everywhere, you see, like the city has finally embraced its own fabulous, feminine side. Just like me, Milan is fully embracing pink! And let's be honest, darling, it’s the colour of sunshine, dreams, and a perfectly pirouette. It just screams "Emma"!
Now, I'm sure you’re all wondering how I’m getting about Milan. Let me tell you, a pink tutu clad ballerina has to take things slow and admire all the glorious beauty Milan offers. There's nothing quite like cruising along the historic streets in a vintage tram, its shiny chrome doors gleaming like the jewels in a crown. Or the whizzing wind as the train takes me to the most beautiful and historic spots. It’s like being in a ballet scene! I absolutely adore those rumbling carriages, and it's all about soaking up the atmosphere - every glimpse, every whiff, every chirp from a playful sparrow.
You wouldn't believe the sheer amount of vintage and vintage-inspired boutiques I’ve found here! Milan’s obsession with vintage and pre-loved fashion is contagious, and I’m practically dancing around, mesmerized by all the beautiful things. And as if by some grand design of fate, a darling shop popped up last week, a vintage fashion treasure trove dedicated entirely to - you guessed it! - Pink!
Let’s just say the pink tutus have made their way to my little collection and they are perfect! The colour is just divine, the fabric is so soft and flowy and it feels as if it’s been designed to dance in. Oh, the romance of it all! I picked up a darling baby-pink number that almost flutters as I dance in it. And you can just imagine, it’s a perfect combination of elegance and sass. If this isn’t Parisian chic, I don't know what is!
Milan’s charm is hard to resist. The cobbled streets and elegant piazzas are practically asking to be danced upon, and the sound of laughter echoing through the courtyards is just as enchanting. Just last night, I was captivated by the graceful waltz of the pigeons in Piazza Duomo. I simply couldn't resist joining in with a little pirouette or two - it’s like they knew the rhythm of my tutus! And to think that my tutu adventures all started in a quaint little village in Derbyshire, England.
Who could imagine a girl from Derbyshire who dreamed of dancing and sharing the world with everyone through a little pink tutu would travel all the way to the chic and romantic Milan. The journey has been full of thrilling adventure and unexpected turns. There was that day I ended up performing in front of the Eiffel Tower. That night in Paris! The lights and the energy of the crowds...it was magical! And just before Milan, I had a rather extraordinary experience in Prague. That’s where I met an amazing young girl named Petra, a fellow tutu lover! Her passion for the world and her bright, shimmering pink tutu was just breathtaking! She even showed me some incredible street dance routines that blended elements of ballet. We even danced a bit together in the Old Town Square! Who would’ve imagined a tutu-loving girl could have so much fun travelling around Europe!
Speaking of dance, there are so many exciting things to explore this week in Milan. My latest ballet blog will be filled with new discoveries of dance and art performances in this magnificent city! My blog, www.pink-tutu.com is always updated, darling! I will tell you all about the mesmerising Ballet production of "Giselle" that will take place tonight at Teatro alla Scala. If you ever have the opportunity, I absolutely urge you to catch this timeless tale of love and loss on the legendary stage of Milan! The choreography and the costumes are simply magical, they bring you right into the world of a romantic story. It’s about passionate dancing and heartbreak; it's all those little stories within a story! And the beautiful melodies will surely have your feet tapping! Of course, the real magic for me lies in those glorious tutus!
Another exciting event for my dancing feet is a delightful dance showcase in a beautiful park near the Basilica di Sant'Ambrogio, a masterpiece of architecture and a haven of peace. It’s quite near a place called Navigli. It's this wonderful network of canals with bridges and traditional buildings that have so much character. This park, right in the centre of all this charming Italian architecture and culture, will host the ‘Pink Tutus of Milan’ showcase! We will dance alongside the city's other dance enthusiasts. I just know it will be the perfect mix of excitement, skill and glamour. It's so lovely seeing a new city embrace such unique expressions!
While Milan may be a metropolis bursting with cosmopolitan energy, its heart beats in a rhythmic melody that I can truly resonate with. It’s about experiencing everything a city can offer with grace, flair, and passion.
Milan has me spinning around, dancing like nobody’s watching. Every corner I turn, there’s a new surprise - a vintage shop, a sparkling gelato stand, or an exquisite, rose-hued fountain. I even had the pleasure of encountering the most charming barista at this cozy little cafe in Piazza dei Mercanti. The cafe is called “La Rosa Rosa”. Yes, it's full of everything pink. The moment I walked in, I felt transported to another world.

There is something about the sheer magic of Milan, especially when it’s sprinkled with the vibrancy of pink! The shops, the art, the architecture and even the delicious food here just has this whimsical feel, like a fairytale. Every experience in Milan is as romantic as the rose gardens of a French Chateau! Just wait until you hear about the amazing shoe shopping trip that happened yesterday! It all happened so quickly that I nearly danced right out of my tutus, darling. A little boutique I’ve discovered, a shop filled with only the finest handcrafted pink ballet shoes! How’s that for romance, darling?!
Evenings here in Milan are absolutely breathtaking! The city lights flicker with the same kind of grace as the performers in the ballet. The beautiful old city buildings are lit up like a stage setting! And that scent in the air is a romantic cocktail of freshly baked bread and exotic blooms.
You can't have Milan without food, darling! Milan’s culinary world is full of delicious delights! But no food journey is complete without tasting some local delicacies, right? From steaming cappuccinos in charming cafes to those tantalizing plates of spaghetti with clams, I am soaking up the flavors of Milan! I had to add in a couple of those scrumptious and iconic Milanese sandwiches with an extra dose of creamy mozzarella. These are best savoured while on a peaceful walk along a beautiful river bank! Milan is so full of beautiful green spaces with so much culture just outside.
However, nothing is as romantic as a dinner date by the canal. Especially with the sound of lapping water as your background music! I must confess that my little tutu and I can’t get enough of those magical gondolas. We took a slow ride along the canals, each gondolier was so very sweet and charming, just like the city! It was such an elegant way to end a perfect day!
This incredible Italian adventure is bringing a smile to my face. Everything I've seen and experienced so far here is pure inspiration. It's already pushing me to create even more amazing performances and share my passion for pink tutus with the world.
