Hey darlings! 💋 It’s Emma here, your friendly neighbourhood Pink Tutu ballerina, and guess what? I’ve landed in Milano, Italia! 🇮🇹 I just arrived this morning and oh my, the air is thick with the scent of sunshine, pizza, and excitement – a potent combination if ever there was one. 🥰
As usual, my suitcase is packed to the brim with all the most fabulous pink tutus – every shade imaginable from bubblegum pink to blush, to rose pink and everything in between! 🦩 You just never know when you’ll need a new tutu for a spontaneous ballet performance, am I right? I wouldn’t want to be caught unprepared, so my beloved tutus always come with me, ready to bring a splash of colour and twirling magic to any corner of the world. 🌎
Speaking of twirling, I have a fantastic day of ballet lined up! I’m heading to the Teatro alla Scala later, and my heart is already aflutter with anticipation. For those of you who don't know, the Teatro alla Scala is a legendary opera house with the most spectacular stage! 🎻 I've heard tales of the beautiful sets, the exquisite costumes, and the world-class ballet performances, and I can’t wait to see it all with my own eyes. 💖 I'm even wearing my special lucky tutu, a stunning powder pink tulle masterpiece that shimmers like a million stars. 💫 I can already feel the magic swirling around me.
But before I slip into my tutu and become a whirling dervish, I’m going to do a bit of exploring around this enchanting city. The trams here are truly something special. They're like vintage beauties, adorned with ornate details, and they glide along the streets with a quiet elegance. Just like my pink tutu, I love the effortless style of the trams, they transport you back in time, reminding us of simpler, more graceful days. ✨
Milano has such a vibrant energy, you feel it in the bustling streets, in the delicious aroma wafting from bakeries, and in the dazzling window displays showcasing all the latest fashion trends. 👠 It’s a city that breathes fashion, and I have a feeling I’ll be doing quite a bit of browsing and window shopping myself. After all, a new pink tutu needs some fabulous accessories! 💎 I'm already imagining a stunning hat with a pink feather and a chic scarf to match – just picture it, darlings! 🌸
Milan also boasts some incredible vintage clothing boutiques – perfect for finding those one-of-a-kind pieces that add a touch of character to any wardrobe. It's amazing how timeless some of these designs are; you can find some absolute treasures! I love vintage, and I’m definitely on the lookout for some ballet-inspired pieces. I can just picture myself in a flowing vintage silk skirt, topped with a sparkly pink ballet cardigan. That would be so chic and utterly unique, wouldn’t it? 😉
And let's not forget about the food! Italy is renowned for its mouthwatering culinary delights. I’m going to try everything – from steaming hot plates of spaghetti bolognese to the most delectable gelato I’ve ever tasted. 😋 This is a city that celebrates indulgence, so I’ll definitely be making the most of all the gastronomic adventures. I am particularly excited to see what today’s "Eventbrite" listing will hold - I only perform to cover my travel expenses you know! The calendar here in Italy is packed, as usual. This week, it seems to be mainly opera singers and other dance artists, with an unexpected but exciting addition of a local, traditional, ballet-based, 'masked' performance! 🎭
I have always had a love affair with the theatre – whether it's a grandiose ballet, a charming pantomime, or a classic stage play, I’m absolutely fascinated by the magic of live performance. I find that being in a live theatre space elevates the experience to another level - it's truly something special, don’t you think? 💫 The anticipation of seeing the curtains rise, the orchestra starting their pre-performance tunes, the dimming of the lights - it really takes you back to another era! I do love seeing all the well-dressed, glammed-up attendees, there's always a lot to be inspired by - a sort of ballet-inspired haute-couture meets red carpet event. Every attendee is an inspiration for the next post for "pink-tutu.com".
But even beyond the ballet stage, I love the magic of storytelling, the artistry of costumes and set design. That’s why I adore the "street-ballet" and “street-theatre” that pops up throughout Milan's historical districts. 🎭 The beauty of street performances is their unexpected nature. It's like a delightful surprise you stumble upon, a fleeting moment of artistry that brightens your day. I’ve been spotting these mini shows every now and then in hidden corners of the city.
Right now, for instance, there are buskers in a nearby courtyard! You can hear their music all the way down the road. I bet if I peek in there I might see another dance troupe. I always get inspired and it’s amazing what creativity you can witness – so if you’re looking for an original form of entertainment, or even a touch of theatrical drama, just peek down a narrow side street, you never know what you might find. There's beauty to be discovered all around, waiting for you to uncover its secrets. ✨

I'm also keen to explore the city's rich history – to delve into its stories, uncover its hidden treasures, and gain a deeper understanding of its place in the world. The museums and galleries hold so many artistic secrets waiting to be discovered, and I am so excited to delve into their treasures.
It seems like just yesterday I was saying “arrivederci” to the magnificent City of Lights! 🇫🇷 That’s one of the lovely things about travelling: no two destinations are alike. It’s the ability to see the world from a different perspective, to discover new things, and to open your heart to new possibilities.
