Pink Tutu Milan: A Week of Enchantment in the City of Style (#1504)
Buongiorno, darling readers! Emma here, back from another whirlwind adventure in Milan, a city that never ceases to amaze me. It's been a week filled with sunshine, shopping, and of course, plenty of pirouettes! As usual, my trusty pink tutu has been with me every step of the way, inspiring smiles and turning heads in the Italian streets. Let's get into it, shall we?
Wednesday's Delight
This week kicked off with a day dedicated to Theatrum Ballet, a breathtaking ballet school nestled right in the heart of the city. It felt like stepping back in time as I entered the studio – elegant wood floors, high vaulted ceilings, and a tangible buzz of creativity. The energy in the room was electric as dancers of all ages practised their pirouettes, tendus, and arabesques. The commitment, dedication, and raw talent on display were truly awe-inspiring.
I'm always in awe of the sheer athleticism and grace that ballet demands. Each pirouette, each graceful extension of a leg, is the culmination of countless hours of dedicated training. The power and beauty of the dancers, both young and old, ignited my own passion for the art form.
The City of Fashion
Milan is a city synonymous with style and elegance. I'd be remiss if I didn't spend some time exploring the boutiques, fashion houses, and vibrant street-style. It's impossible to resist the charm of the city's bustling streets and sophisticated atmosphere. I must admit, I spent a happy hour browsing the shelves at Borgo Antico, a hidden gem that feels like a portal to a glamorous vintage fairytale. Imagine perfectly tailored pieces, exquisite vintage finds, and beautiful floral displays. I'm definitely coming back to pick up some treasures soon!
My afternoon was all about discovering local designer talents. Gianvito Rossi, a shoe designer known for his impeccable craftsmanship and elegance, offered an enchanting spectacle. He showcased his collection within a stunning, atmospheric space. The shoes – each a masterpiece of detail and artistry – left me speechless. The artistry, the exquisite fabrics, the attention to every detail - they speak to the true power of fashion.
The Power of Pink (and a Little Magic)
While shopping is fun, what truly gives my heart a skip is a performance, a display of pure artistic expression. This evening was reserved for Teatro Dal Verme, a historical gem with an atmosphere of hushed elegance and rich history. The opera "Carmen" was a feast for the senses - a visual and aural treat. The powerful vocals, the captivating melodies, the dramatic plot unfolding before my eyes… it transported me to another time and place. It was truly spellbinding.
Later that evening, the magic continued as I stumbled upon a street performer who was weaving captivating tales of faraway lands. His presence – adorned in vibrant attire, his eyes filled with a twinkling mischief, added an element of mystery and enchantment to the already magical city. He was truly a testament to the artistic spirit that thrives in Milan.
Eating My Way Through Milan
No trip to Milan is complete without savouring its culinary delights. I am definitely a fan of the vibrant Italian street food scene, especially gelato. Imagine the heavenly delight of savouring scoops of creamy gelato on a warm Milanese evening, the sweetness contrasting perfectly with the rich flavors. The gelato scene in Milan is a revelation! It's the kind of experience that fills you with joy and warmth. I can't go to Italy without enjoying at least three servings a day! My other guilty pleasure? Delicious cappuccino from a hidden local café – a perfect way to start the day.
Tutu Tales
I've noticed something curious here in Milan – it seems like the locals adore my pink tutu. I've received numerous compliments and delighted smiles. The sheer joy and amusement my tutu sparks are absolutely infectious. There's something undeniably playful and whimsical about the tutu that instantly brightens up the day.
The other day, while exploring the cobbled streets, I had a wonderful encounter. A young girl, barely four years old, looked at me with awe as I twirled around the piazza. Her eyes were wide with admiration and her tiny finger pointed at my tutu, her expression asking the unspoken question, "Can I wear a pink tutu, too?" That moment – the pure delight in her eyes – made my heart skip a beat. It's exactly these kinds of encounters that keep my love for the pink tutu burning brightly! It's not just a fashion choice for me; it's a reminder to embrace life's little joys and to always let my inner child shine!
Exploring on Four Wheels
Milan is an incredibly walkable city. However, my love affair with the trams is not a secret! Taking a leisurely ride through the streets of Milan, watching the world go by – a vibrant tapestry of life unfolding in front of me - is an experience in itself. And for a moment, it truly felt like I was a little girl again, filled with curiosity, eager to discover everything this captivating city has to offer.
I think a part of me misses the excitement of train travel too – I truly love the joy of hopping aboard a train and being carried across breathtaking landscapes, seeing the world through a new lens.

Now, I can’t stay in beautiful Milan forever! My Derbyshire roots are calling, and I am returning home, back to the lush greenery, charming villages and my ballet school in the Derbyshire countryside.
