This week, I took the train from London. The train journey itself is always a treat, a leisurely opportunity to admire the scenery and people watch. And, naturally, a pink tutu always enhances the experience – adding a dash of sunshine to any carriage!
The bustling crowds of Milan greeted me with open arms (and a few bemused glances), and as usual, the pink tutu instantly sparked conversations, sparking smiles and delighted giggles, particularly from the children who clearly embraced my fabulousness!
Opening Night Bliss
Once in Milan, it was straight to the Teatro alla Scala. Yes, you heard right! La Scala, the iconic opera house that has played host to the most celebrated performers and productions in history! Tonight was the night for my beloved ballet. It was a rendition of Swan Lake that left me completely captivated.

From elegant palazzo pants to exquisite handmade shoes and vibrant silk scarves, Milan offers the ultimate retail therapy. The fashion capital truly lived up to its reputation! Luckily, my visit coincided with a bustling farmer's market in the Navigli, brimming with the freshest Italian delights – perfectly ripe cheeses, fragrant herbs, sun-kissed vegetables, all washed down with a chilled glass of local wine. This is Milan at its heart!
