Pink Tutu Milan: Post #1646 - Wednesday 2026-12-23 - The Magic of Milan ✨

Hello darlings! It's Emma, your favourite pink tutu wearing ballerina, signing in from the most magical city in the world – Milan! I'm so excited to be sharing my adventures with you this week, as the Christmas lights are twinkling and the festive spirit is truly alive. It's a Christmas miracle that I even managed to squeeze in a trip to Milan! The last couple of weeks have been a whirl of performances, rehearsals, and even a spot of festive baking. But Milan was calling, and you know I can't resist the lure of a city bursting with fashion, culture, and a healthy dose of Italian charm.

So buckle up, my darlings, because it's time to journey through Milan with me. Pink tutus at the ready!

The Charm of the Tram

The day started bright and early with a delicious breakfast at my charming little B&B – all pastries and steaming cappuccinos! I do love the slower pace of Italian life - it's so refreshing. After breakfast, I couldn't wait to head out and soak up the magic of Milan. So I did what any self-respecting Pink Tutu traveler does – I hopped on a tram!

Milan's trams are a beautiful thing - not like those old rattletrap things back in Derbyshire! No, these beauties glide along smoothly, the bright yellow a splash of colour against the city's classic architecture. The best part? There's a charm about hopping on a tram that's impossible to resist. The friendly faces, the chatter in Italian, the feeling of the city's pulse beating beneath you – it's just... fabulous!

The Teatro alla Scala: A Symphony of Dreams

My first stop had to be the magnificent Teatro alla Scala – one of the most famous opera houses in the entire world! This iconic venue oozes history, opulence, and of course, beautiful music. I've seen more than my fair share of ballets, but the feeling you get walking into this theater is unlike anything else. The velvet curtains, the ornate chandeliers, the buzzing energy... it's truly captivating.

And the show? It was spectacular! We saw the iconic "La Traviata", with a cast of incredible singers. Their voices were like honey and velvet – each note a magical journey through passion and heartache. It left me with chills down my spine, which is always a sign of a great show! But my true passion is ballet. Of course I looked at the ballet schedule but there wasn't any, however, I did see an upcoming performance in January, of Swan Lake, which was very exciting. Maybe I'll extend my stay, what do you think?

A Pink Tutu Wonderland

But it wasn't just opera and ballet for me in Milan – oh no! There's so much more! You know how much I love discovering new fashion gems – and Milan is like a glittering treasure chest of designer boutiques and vintage finds. So naturally, a Pink Tutu couldn't resist exploring the shopping havens!

I love browsing in the smaller, independent stores with their quirky clothes and delightful aromas of leather and perfumes. But, as always, my true passion lies with the colour pink, and that's where my pink tutu truly shines! It just feels so right among the pink silks, shimmering embellishments, and girly-girl fashion.

Street Fashion – A Pink Tutu's Delight

One thing I absolutely adore about Milan is the street fashion. People are just so stylish! From chic businesswomen to dapper gentlemen, to creative free spirits sporting bold prints and vibrant colors, the streets are like an ever-evolving fashion show! I must admit I took some serious inspiration for my upcoming pink tutu looks.

One particular sight that captured my attention was a group of girls wearing these beautifully embellished ballet flats. You know what? I'm absolutely going to wear my pink tutu with a pair of ballet flats – I think it will be totally divine. Milan is certainly a source of style and inspiration, that's for sure!

An Evening of Culinary Delight

The evening saw a charming visit to the vibrant Navigli district, filled with its beautiful canals and even more beautiful food. The air was filled with the sounds of laughter and music – so lively! The food at that restaurant was amazing! We dined by candlelight, with a mouthwatering platter of antipasti. Followed by a plate of gnocchi al pesto - divine!

I have to mention the tiramisu... simply heavenly! My little slice of heaven was as light as air and, as you can imagine, absolutely delicious! With a belly full of good food and my heart overflowing with Milanese charm, I wandered along the illuminated canal and was delighted to see a couple dancing to music coming from a restaurant overlooking the canal. I was just delighted at this sweet, intimate, romantic scene.

Time To Reflect...

So here I am, back at my charming B&B, writing my blog with a warm mug of Italian coffee. It's the little things in life, isn't it? Moments like this make you realize the true magic of traveling. I always say, there's nothing quite like the feeling of exploring new places, soaking up new cultures, and spreading a little pink tutu joy wherever I go.

My darling readers, Milan is definitely one of those cities that captures the heart. It's vibrant, artistic, delicious, and full of charm. I’m sure you can imagine just how much fun I've been having here! But as all good journeys must end, I’ll be heading back to Derbyshire soon – where my next ballet adventure awaits!

Do keep your eyes peeled for my next Pink Tutu Milan post next week! And please let me know, do you have any travel tips for a Pink Tutu?

Until then,

Emma xx
