A Week of Fashion, Flourishes, and Fab Tram Rides
Milan is truly a feast for the senses. The vibrant colours, the sleek architecture, and the undeniable fashion buzz…it's intoxicating!
This week has been filled with more pink tulle than you could shake a stick at (or a pair of ballet shoes at!), alongside all the fabulous sights and experiences that only Milan can offer. Let's dive into the highlights!
Monday: A Tram to Theatre and a Tutus for Everyone Dream
My week started with a charming jaunt on a classic Milan tram – let me tell you, it's all about the chic! I made my way to the beautiful Teatro alla Scala for a spectacular performance of "Swan Lake." The artistry was exquisite, and the dancing was utterly spellbinding. Oh, the grace and power! It filled me with inspiration – just another reason why I am utterly passionate about getting everyone, everywhere to wear a pink tutu!
But enough about my ballet dreams for a moment (don't worry, more to come!), let's talk about my dream outfit! I wore my favourite fuchsia tulle tutu paired with a black cashmere sweater – just the right mix of romantic and stylish. The tutu definitely made me stand out – even amongst all the glamorous Milanese!
Tuesday: Boutique Browsing and Ballerina Bites
The call of fashion is irresistible in Milan. I couldn’t resist spending Tuesday browsing through the chic boutiques in the heart of the city. Imagine, rows upon rows of beautifully displayed shoes and dresses, and an overwhelming selection of pink tulle – it was heaven! I discovered the most divine pale pink tulle skirt with pearl embellishments. Needless to say, it came home with me!
But enough about the retail therapy (although it really is a necessary part of life!). To fuel my shopping adventures, I stopped for a delicious afternoon tea at a charming café overlooking the Duomo. My raspberry macarons and teacup were absolutely Instagrammable – wouldn't be a trip to Milan without some photos, darling!
Wednesday: Street Performances and Sizzling Saute´s
Milan is buzzing with street performances, and this Wednesday was no exception! As I walked through the bustling Piazza del Duomo, I was charmed by a talented troupe of dancers who had gathered to show off their talents. I found myself mesmerised by their passionate energy and playful creativity. I couldn't help but break into a few little pirouettes of my own!
A little dance-inspired hunger pangs had me stopping by a charming little restaurant. Let me tell you, their sautéed scallops with garlic and chili oil were simply divine. I had to indulge – one must have treats, don’t you think?
Thursday: Ballet Dreams at La Scala and Dinner with Delicious Italian
On Thursday, I indulged in another fabulous ballet performance – this time it was “Giselle.” The emotion, the stories, and the skill of the dancers completely transported me! The costume designer's vision for the tutus was simply magnificent, all flowing lines and dreamy fabrics.
I later savored a truly authentic Italian dinner. I sampled fresh pasta with truffle oil – you’ll never understand unless you’ve experienced it yourself. And let’s not forget the gelato! A scoop of hazelnut gelato, whipped into a decadent delight! I savoured every mouthful – it was the perfect ending to a fantastic day.
Friday: Fabulous Fashion Finds and Foodie Adventures
Friday called for more fashion exploration – you could say that shopping in Milan is like being lost in a wonderland of stylish treasures! I discovered an independent designer with a unique collection of handmade pink tulle dresses and skirts. Oh my goodness, I fell in love! And the designer herself was a real sweetheart. We chatted about ballet and her love of all things pink tulle – we definitely had a shared passion!
To end the day on a delightful note, I wandered through a vibrant local market overflowing with fresh fruit and cheeses. I couldn’t resist a bowl of the most perfectly ripe strawberries, along with a few freshly baked croissants. It was a sweet treat worthy of Milan.
Saturday: The Enchanting Ambiance of a Local Ballet Class
I discovered a local ballet class nestled in the charming little cobbled streets of Milan. Let’s just say that my heart was doing little pirouettes! It was so lovely to share the joy of ballet with others. The atmosphere was welcoming, and I just felt so energized – it’s something about dancing that instantly brightens the day! Even better? The class ended with a mini performance by all the attendees.
Later, I dined at a traditional trattoria and savoured an authentic Tuscan soup, the aroma of garlic and basil was simply irresistible!
Sunday: The Serenity of Duomo and the Sparkle of Milan by Night
On Sunday, I strolled through the iconic Duomo – it’s hard to believe that a masterpiece of such scale and beauty is possible! As I marveled at its intricate details and soaring heights, I felt so humbled. The city's energy pulsed around me, a testament to history, artistry, and resilience.
Later, as the sun set, Milan truly shimmered. I took a romantic stroll down the grand Via Montenapoleone, gazing at the glimmering lights of the city and reflecting on an amazing week filled with unforgettable moments, breathtaking fashion, and the purest magic of ballet!
