Ciao bellas! It’s Emma here, back from the cobbled streets of Milan, my pink tutu billowing in the gentle Italian breeze. Oh, it's a dream come true to be here! I’ve been making the most of every moment, from twirling around the Duomo to devouring delicious pasta while watching the world go by from my favourite window seat at a charming trattoria.
Milan – a haven for pink tutus?
This week, I'm exploring a question I've been pondering ever since I hopped on that overnight train from London (did I tell you about my journey through the beautiful countryside? Such stunning views!), Can Milan be a pink tutu haven? Because, as you all know, my aim in life is to inspire the world to embrace the beauty and joy of a pink tutu, even in the most unexpected places.
This week, Milan is my canvas for this quest, and so far, it’s been absolutely sensational!
Wednesday adventures:
Wednesday began bright and early with a trip to the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, a stunning shopping arcade bursting with luxury boutiques and brimming with history. You'd think I was in a fashion magazine with all the amazing window displays – it's a wonder I haven't spontaneously combusted! It was, of course, my first stop. And no surprise, my darling tutu became a fashion icon in that breathtakingly beautiful glass-vaulted space! A flurry of flashbulbs, I’m sure I’ll see myself on a Milanese street style blog soon!
And my trip to Milan just wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Teatro alla Scala, the iconic opera house. From the velvet seats to the ornate ceilings, everything in the theatre breathes with history and opulence. I could almost hear the melodies of Puccini and Verdi wafting through the air. And while I haven’t yet graced its stage with a performance, I'm picturing myself doing so – my pink tutu illuminating the stage, lighting up this majestic space with a joyful ballet solo that captures the essence of Milan: glamorous, daring and utterly beautiful.
I’ve been feeling particularly inspired this week! You’ll be delighted to hear that, my travels through Milan have resulted in an exciting development in the Pink Tutu World - it's an opportunity to add a dash of our trademark flair to Milanese street style and make those street fashionistas wonder what the buzz is all about.
After all, who can resist the allure of a twirling, ballerina-inspired statement that speaks of both beauty and power? The possibilities seem endless!
Tutus in action
In fact, just the other day, I spotted a stunning palazzo that seemed perfectly primed for a Pink Tutu photo shoot! Can you imagine – sunsets painting the facade in hues of pink and peach, my tutu flowing in the warm evening air… pure, poetic magic!
Street style inspo
There’s a kind of confidence here in Milan, you see – they have this natural chic which I love!
So this week, I decided to embrace the bold Milanese energy. Imagine – I wore my most extravagant pink tutu, a confection of feathers, sequins and shimmering tulle. With a splash of vibrant pink lipstick and a mischievous smile, I was ready to transform Milan's cobbled streets into my own personal ballet stage!
My tutu garnered curious glances, compliments, and, perhaps, some whispers of astonishment – "Una ballerina?" (A ballerina?) I could feel eyes glued to me, like I was a breathtaking work of art, which, I think, in a way, I am. After all, a pink tutu is like a mobile masterpiece!
Eating in style:
And the food? Well, Milan truly lives up to its reputation.
This week, I discovered the most heavenly Italian delights, savoring pasta that literally melted in my mouth, sipped cappuccinos that were frothed to perfection, and ate Gelato that sent my tastebuds into a happy dance (just like the graceful twirls of my pink tutu). Milanese chefs are true artists, and their culinary masterpieces are a feast for both the eyes and the soul.
The magic of trains
Speaking of travel, it would be remiss of me to not mention the journey from Derbyshire, England, where I'm originally from. That overnight train from London! I spent the evening gazing out the window as the English countryside unfurled before me, then watched the first rays of dawn paint the French countryside in a symphony of orange, pink, and purple – just the perfect colours to complement my beloved pink tutu, naturally.
Then came the excitement of gliding into Milan’s main station - and oh, my! Just hearing the click-clack of the train on the tracks seemed to set my heart dancing.
There's just something special about travelling by train, you know? You have time to observe the world rushing by, feel the gentle rhythm of the journey, and maybe, just maybe, sketch some ideas for the next Pink Tutu adventure.
Fashion forward: This Week's Inspiration
I have been finding endless fashion inspiration all around Milan.
It seems like everyone here takes a bit of fashion-forward pride – from the vintage fashion stores in the Navigli canal district, to the glamorous Milanese women, effortlessly strolling down Corso Buenos Aires.
But let’s face it, my true inspiration this week is my pink tutu – the ultimate accessory, a statement of confidence, creativity and a whole lotta fun! It's all about expressing yourself in a way that radiates joy and brings a bit of magical whimsy into the world!
