Hey, gorgeous ballet-lovers! It's Emma here, and oh my goodness, has summer hit Abingdon with a glorious ballet-fuelled bang? Let me tell you, things are looking as fabulous as a brand-new pink tutu! It’s time to dust off our ballet shoes, ladies (and gentlemen, of course!) because the whispers around Abingdon are buzzing about exciting things!
Firstly, I need to tell you about this absolutely divine workshop at Abingdon Dance Academy. They've invited a famous choreographer from London, I swear I saw his name on a Royal Ballet programme once, to teach a Contemporary Ballet Workshop in August! Can you believe it? Imagine dancing and learning from the best, while sipping on something sparkling in the glorious Oxfordshire sunshine, oh darling, this is just pure luxury!
For all the aspiring ballerina fashionistas out there, the Abingdon Ballet Boutique has just launched its new summer collection! They've got everything from elegant leotards with these gorgeous, sparkly detailing, to super chic warm-up wear in shades of blush pink and lavender. You just HAVE to check it out!
Then there's the Abingdon Ballet Festival. They are throwing this fabulous, Ballet Extravaganza with a whole evening of performance showcasing local dance talent! You can see the future stars of Abingdon taking centre stage with routines inspired by everything from classical ballet to modern contemporary works, all performed under the watchful gaze of the Royal Ballet's Director of Artistic Operations. He's the one everyone seems to be whispering about, I've seen his name on a few glossy programmes and it definitely screams "cultured elegance", my absolute fave!
Oh, and did I mention that this summer sees a new theatre open in Abingdon? The Abingdon Performing Arts Centre is having a grand opening event with the world premiere of a new ballet by Abingdon’s own acclaimed ballet choreographer. It’s based on a Shakespeare play and rumour has it, the costumes are something else! I’m told the opening scene will involve a stunning costume design with sparkly tutus and blush pink fabrics… I may just faint.
Abingdon is really taking things up a notch, the summer scene is truly divine, darling! This vibrant hub of creativity has become an exciting space for talented young dancers with workshops, fashion launches, and amazing performances coming out of the woodworks - well, let's face it, I think this may just be Abingdon's most exciting summer yet! I can't wait to watch everyone step onto that stage, twirling, leaping, and captivating our hearts with beautiful moves. It’s time to embrace all that this ballet summer brings, and maybe indulge in a slice of Victoria Sponge while doing so!
