Let me tell you, darling, there's loads happening this summer, from stunning new productions to vibrant workshops, it's all going down right here in our very own Birmingham! Get your pointe shoes polished, your sequins shimmering, and prepare to be amazed by the sheer fabulousness of what's in store!

The Royal Ballet at The Hippodrome: Now, I'm not gonna lie, I’m absolutely swooning over this one. For the first time in what feels like forever, The Royal Ballet is gracing our beloved Hippodrome stage this summer. They’re bringing none other than “The Sleeping Beauty,” a dreamy classic that’s guaranteed to enchant you. Prepare for breathtaking choreography, stunning costumes, and the kind of romance that will leave you swooning in the aisle. (Can we talk about that iconic pink and blue tutu, by the way? Just heavenly!) I'm beyond excited to be able to experience such an incredible production right on my doorstep.

A New Season for Birmingham Royal Ballet: Of course, Birmingham Royal Ballet is kicking things up a notch this summer too. They’re unveiling their exciting new season, brimming with incredible performances that have me positively giddy with anticipation.

  • A “Swan Lake” to Remember: They’re taking on the iconic “Swan Lake” for the first time in three years! Think gorgeous costumes, incredible drama, and of course, the mesmerising tale of Odette and her transformation into the swan queen. I’m so ready to get swept away by this classic, and the promise of exquisite dancing just sends me into complete and utter joy!
  • Dancing the Night Away with “La Bayadère: But wait, there’s more! This season also features “La Bayadère," another breathtaking masterpiece featuring the stunning “Kingdom of the Shades” sequence. Honestly, the thought of the ethereal ballerinas and that sublime choreography has me feeling things! Prepare to be dazzled by the power, grace, and pure artistry of Birmingham Royal Ballet!

For the Aspiring Dancer in All of Us: Summer means ballet intensives, and Birmingham is buzzing with them! I know I’m definitely signing up for some, it's the perfect opportunity to brush up on my skills and get ready for a fantastic new season.

  • Birmingham Royal Ballet’s Summer School: If you've ever dreamt of dancing on those iconic Birmingham Royal Ballet stages, here's your chance! They're hosting their legendary Summer School, offering workshops in classical ballet and pointe work for various ages and levels. Get your pointe shoes ready and dive into the world of professional ballet training, you'll have a ball!
  • A Day of Dance With Ballet Cymru: For a little something different, Ballet Cymru is holding their “A Day of Dance" event – a super fun and immersive experience open to dancers of all ages! I'm absolutely smitten with Ballet Cymru’s innovative approach and captivating stories, so you know I'll be there!

    Finding the Perfect Tutu: You know what goes hand-in-hand with all this amazing dance? The tutus! I've got my eye on a divine new one at the ballet shop on Broad Street. It’s a soft pastel pink with a fluffy, romantic tulle. I mean, seriously, it’s everything. You know I'll be rocking it at the first performance, of course. 💖

And if you're looking for the perfect ballerina aesthetic, head down to the Birmingham City Museum & Art Gallery – they’ve got some stunning ballet costumes and photography exhibitions, which, let’s face it, makes for the best Instagram snaps!
