Firstly, let’s talk about Bishop Auckland’s very own Summer Dance Festival - a glorious explosion of pirouettes and perfect arabesques! This year’s theme is “Under the Summer Sky,” and I am absolutely living for the whimsical vibes. Expect dreamy performances under the open air, beautiful costumes that evoke those dreamy summer evenings, and a delightful mix of classical and contemporary ballet pieces.
You won’t want to miss the new additions to the festival programme! We’ve got an enchanting ballet inspired by Midsummer Night’s Dream, a super-stylish contemporary work featuring gorgeous aerial silk pieces, and a whole evening dedicated to stunning dance pieces created by local choreographers - the future of Bishop Auckland ballet is looking bright!
Speaking of new beginnings, the Bishop Auckland Dance Academy has got a whole new set of summer workshops designed to unleash the inner ballerina in everyone, from tots to teens to adults. I totally plan on whipping out my trusty leotard and going for those "advanced adult" workshops – a little challenge never hurt anyone, right? Plus, I’ve heard rumours of a fabulous pink themed workshop – so grab your best ballet bag, because I need a pink ensemble for this!
But that's not all, babes! There's more exciting news bubbling away in the Bishop Auckland dance scene. I hear whispers of a top secret performance with a surprise guest - can you say "prima ballerina"? 🤫 The Bishop Auckland Ballet Company is going to seriously make a splash this summer with their captivating performance of Swan Lake, but don't take my word for it! Get down to the theatre and be prepared to be blown away by their amazing artistry.
