First up, Iāve got a little bird (or should I say, a swan?) who's told me there's some major movement happening at the Blackburn Dance Academy! This beloved ballet institution has been getting a summer makeover. Not just a lick of paint (though that might be happening too, because everyone loves a little sparkle, right?) - no, I'm talking new, sleek studios! Apparently, there are gorgeous new floor-to-ceiling mirrors and amazing sprung floors. This sounds like the perfect place to work on those pirouettes, perfect those extensions, and let your dance spirit fly high! It's not just a revamp, though, they've also got some fab new classes being launched! We're talking jazz, contemporary, and even a bit of hip hop for those who like to put their own spin on things.
A Little Slice of Ballet Theatre!
Blackburn is transforming into a bit of a ballet hub this summer, as there are some absolute gems coming to the town! We're in for a real treat as the legendary Dance Theatre of Great Britain will be gracing our stage with the classic Swan Lake. Theyāre promising us ādazzling costumesā and āextravagant sceneryā - I'm expecting tutu overload! Speaking of magic and tutu overloadā¦ you know me and my obsession with dance wear! The summer brings some fabulous new styles and this is my time to experiment. Think light, airy, airy, beautiful fabrics with hints of floral prints. Itās perfect for showing off your toned legs, getting the perfect summer tan and bringing out the graceful ballet ballerina within.
For you fellow dance fanatics, a hot tip ā thereās a new boutique in town called The Ballet Shop! Itās absolutely brimming with gorgeous ballet essentials and some truly special pieces from high-end brands. I managed to snaffle a gorgeous pink ballet top there with delicate frills (totally summery, right?!) It's the perfect thing for feeling a little ballet-ready whether you are in the studio or heading out on the town. Summer isn't all about swishing through the theatre though. I'm excited for all the dance classes that are happening right here in the heart of Blackburn. There's everything from fun family sessions that teach kids and parents to dance together, to sessions specifically aimed at mums, new dancers, or people who'd just love to unleash their inner-ballerina and give ballet a go. Even if you havenāt danced in a long time or never set foot in a dance class, it's a brilliant way to get fit and have fun - plus, with the emphasis on relaxation and movement, there's no pressure, just joyful expression.
