The summer season is upon us and, oh boy, is it going to be a beauty! With a fresh new crop of performances and workshops blossoming, there's something for every dancer and ballet aficionado out there. Get ready for a sprinkle of summer magic in your pointe shoes - it’s time to tutu-ally take over!
New on the scene
First up, let’s talk Bournemouth Ballet Festival. Back again and bigger than ever, the festival promises a dazzling programme, bringing the most beautiful and powerful classical and contemporary ballet to Bournemouth! It’s an absolute must-attend for anyone wanting to get lost in the world of ballet. Keep an eye on their website for the full line-up – I can promise some seriously jaw-dropping performances, from world-famous companies to up-and-coming stars. And, best of all, the festival's gorgeous new venue in the heart of Bournemouth means a breathtaking backdrop for each show. Can’t wait to see you all there!
And, speaking of gorgeous, how about a tutu update? Bournemouth’s premier ballet wear shop, ‘The Dancing Muse,’ has been busy making magic. Their new line of pink (of course! It’s my favourite colour, after all!) ballet tutus with beautiful floral detailing are to die for. They’re seriously the perfect way to make a statement, and the flattering shape will make your legs look miles long! Honestly, you could almost hear my inner dance-queen squealing when I first saw them!
What's Blooming for Beginner Dancers
Feeling inspired by the new season and fancy taking up ballet? Don’t worry, you don't have to be a professional to enjoy the magic. Our beloved Bournemouth Ballet Centre is offering a variety of introductory ballet classes, suitable for complete beginners. Even if your last ballet experience was watching Black Swan, trust me, the team at Bournemouth Ballet Centre is truly amazing. Their classes are all about learning in a fun and encouraging environment - and the teachers are beyond amazing! With the right guidance, you’ll be twirling and pirouetting in no time! They're offering some truly adorable summer programmes too - think fun 'tutus and tiaras' themed sessions and outdoor ballet lessons. It's perfect for all ages and abilities, and, who knows, you might even discover a hidden talent for ballet!
