The summer sunshine might be bringing out the best in our tans (or maybe just the freckles, haha!), but it’s also bringing out the most dazzling and inspiring side of the ballet scene in our lovely little corner of the world! From Ballet on the Moors to Sparkling Summer Performances:
If you're looking for something a little different this summer, head down to Burnley's stunning moorland! That's right, folks, the "Ballet on the Moors" is back, with a stunning programme of open-air performances, taking in breathtaking views of our beautiful landscape. Picture this: a clear summer sky, the warm sun on your skin, the gentle breeze rustling the heather, and graceful ballerinas performing amidst this idyllic setting! It's simply magical! (And don't worry, there's a lovely little cafe onsite for your pre-show picnics!).
And speaking of magic, Burnley Ballet Theatre are back with a fantastic new show! It’s all about Cinderella, but with a fresh, exciting twist. With gorgeous costumes, breathtaking choreography, and a sprinkling of that fairy dust we all crave, this production is a guaranteed hit for both adults and children. I hear rumours of a very impressive pumpkin carriage, but I can't reveal any more! Let's just say the production design team has outdone themselves.
Let's Talk Tutu Fashion: It's All About Colour this Summer!
Summertime and tutu fashion are practically made for each other! We've got so many opportunities to embrace colour and play with playful prints. My current obsession is a gorgeous blush pink tulle skirt, paired with a sleek black leotard. It's simple, elegant, and absolutely screams "summer ballet". The key is finding pieces that feel comfortable, yet make you feel confident and powerful!
Don't forget your ballet accessories! This season, it's all about statement earrings and sparkly hair pieces! And let's not forget about our shoes! A pair of stunning pointe shoes in a metallic finish are guaranteed to turn heads, and for something more casual, ballet flats with colourful embroidery are a fantastic option. Remember, girls, there’s no such thing as overdressing for ballet! It’s all about having fun with fashion and celebrating our love for dance!
