Frome’s Summer of Ballet: Tutu News from the Town's Leading Dancer

Hello gorgeous ballet bunnies! Summer is officially here, and the air is abuzz with the excitement of sunshine, holidays, and… ballet?! Yep, that's right, Frome's thriving ballet scene is bursting with fun and fantastic news for all you dance devotees. I'm Emma, your resident ballet aficionado and lover of all things tutu, and I’m absolutely thrilled to share all the hottest updates. Buckle up, darlings, because it's going to be a dazzling summer of dance!

It's the season of outdoor performances!

Frome's open-air stage has never looked more radiant, and it's about to be graced by the divine art of ballet. Prepare yourselves for the enchanting Summer Nights on the Square event. Think starry skies, twinkling lights, and breathtaking performances set against the charming backdrop of our very own market square. This year, they've promised something truly spectacular - an immersive, interactive show inspired by the classic Swan Lake. You can be sure I'll be sporting my most gorgeous tulle skirt for this one, and I'm already dreaming of capturing some stunning Insta-worthy shots.

New Ballet School Opening its Doors

The local dance scene just got a whole lot more exciting with the arrival of a new ballet school - En Pointe Frome - boasting an airy, beautiful studio filled with the very best equipment. I know this firsthand because I dropped by to have a sneak peek! I even got to have a little twirl around the spacious room and experience firsthand the magic of their new barres - absolutely top quality! And speaking of magic, they're holding a special summer camp for budding dancers, all about creative choreography and imaginative storytelling. They’re also offering a brand new ballet fitness class called 'Swan Strength' - combining graceful movements with hardcore strength training. Think "ballerina bod meets badass cardio"!

Don't miss the "Tutus & Tea Party"

If you're looking for an adorable summer event that's perfect for little dancers, head over to the Frome Community Hall on the 15th of July for a delightful “Tutus & Tea Party." Imagine a room filled with sunshine, pretty decorations, and an afternoon of ballet-themed fun - all in the name of a good cause, supporting the Frome Dance Charity. Think delightful mini ballet classes for your little ballerinas and adorable tea party games for the tiniest twirling princesses. My favourite part? They're encouraging everyone to come dressed up in their most magnificent tutu creations. Trust me, you'll be seeing some serious fashion inspiration!

The Return of Frome's Beloved Ballet Competition

Speaking of inspiration, there's no better motivation than the Frome Ballet Festival, making a triumphant return after a successful two-year break. This annual event is a true celebration of everything dance and a great opportunity to showcase young local talent. From the grace of classical ballet to the vibrancy of modern contemporary dance, you’ll be blown away by the artistry on display. And as an extra treat, this year the festival is bringing a world-famous guest choreographer - an icon of modern ballet who's set to share their creative genius with our community. This event promises to be a thrilling highlight of the Frome ballet scene, and I'm already dreaming of my outfit for the occasion!

The Beauty of Ballet Under a Starry Sky

This summer, let's indulge in a little artistic escape! Immerse yourself in the ethereal world of ballet under a starlit sky. Grab your bestie, a blanket, a picnic basket, and head down to Frome's open-air performance area. You'll be mesmerized by the exquisite beauty of these performances, especially those dedicated to showcasing talented local artists. This is the perfect opportunity to indulge in some relaxed elegance and embrace the joy of dance.
