Hello fellow ballet lovers! It’s Emma here, your resident tutu enthusiast, ready to dive into all the dazzling developments in the world of dance this summer, right here in our beloved Great Yarmouth!
It feels like the sunshine is bringing a fresh energy to everything, and our ballet scene is no exception! There’s a wave of excitement in the air, and I can practically smell the rose petal dust of a hundred tutus twirling in the wind!
First up, we have a new face on the block! 💃
The fabulous Seagull Dance Studio is opening its doors for the first time, right on the waterfront. Their grand opening is in just a couple of weeks and they are offering FREE drop-in classes for anyone who wants to have a go! 😱😱 I can’t wait to try out their contemporary class. Maybe it’ll inspire a new blog post! (Just imagine me pirouette-ing in front of the waves, tutu billowing in the salty breeze... swoon)
Speaking of tutus... Grateful Ballet Academy is hosting their annual ‘Ballet for a Cause’ event! This is always such a popular affair, and I'm planning to attend myself. I hear they have some absolutely divine vintage tutu displays on show this year. They are even holding a costume competition – I've been busy perfecting my 1930s "Swan Lake" ensemble. 😉😉 Can't wait to show it off!
For the professionals among us (ahem, my fellow dancers!), the Great Yarmouth Theatre Royal is presenting a masterclass in choreography, given by a celebrated West End choreographer, this August! It’s going to be incredible to pick the brain of someone with so much experience – you can be sure I'm signing up!
And for the budding ballerina who just knows they are going to be the next Margot Fonteyn, the Great Yarmouth Dance Festival is coming back bigger and better than ever this July! And it’s FREE to enter!! 🎉
The Festival is open to all, no matter your level of experience (and this means YOU! Don't be shy! 😄). It's the perfect chance to learn a new routine, hone your skills and perform on a proper stage - the Royal Theatre itself!! I’m definitely thinking about entering this year – I haven’t quite decided on the choreography yet, but trust me, it will be tutu fabulous.
