Hey dancers, it's your girl, Emma, back with the latest and greatest in Middleton's ballet world! Summer is officially in full swing, and it seems everyone's getting their dose of sunshine, cocktails and – of course! – fabulous ballet performances. It's hot hot hot, but don't think for a second the ballet scene's slowing down! It's bubbling with creativity and there's plenty for us to gush about, so let's dive into the exciting developments in #tutunews!
First up, a spectacular showcase: Middleton Ballet Theatre is making a dazzling return this summer! We all know MBT loves their big productions, but this one's going to be extra special. The programme promises to be bursting with dazzling colour, a pinch of fairy dust (just a sprinkle, of course, we don't want the place to feel like a Disney theme park!), and enough gorgeous costuming to send you swooning. They're even incorporating a 'Summer Solstice' theme, so you can expect a beautiful exploration of light and warmth through the art of ballet. I mean, come on! How divine will the shimmering costumes look under the stage lights?!
Now, let's talk trends! This summer's all about taking risks and bringing the colour! If you haven't caught the trend yet, hot pink is EVERYTHING. Don't be shy with the fuchsia, honey! Middleton Dance Studios has just announced an exclusive pop-up shop – just a short walk from the theatre! - offering gorgeous pink tutus in every style you can dream of. My darling friends, they even have a hot pink leotard with the most beautiful beaded detailing... the whole outfit has “Instagram sensation” written all over it! It’s practically screaming, "post me, Emma!” and, well, who am I to resist a call from a perfect Instagram-worthy outfit? 😉
But let's be real, there's more to summer than pink! Remember that feeling of freedom that comes with summer days? Ballet school owner and instructor, the darling Ms. Beaumont, is bringing that spirit into the classroom with a special "Summer Dance Retreat." Held at a picturesque lakeside cabin, it’s a chance to unplug, unwind and truly connect with your passion for ballet – and you don't need to worry about bringing your fancy pointe shoes, as this is all about barefoot bliss. (I may have already booked my space, no judging 😉 ). It's perfect for those who want a retreat to boost their passion and a refresh from the rigours of routine classes.
If you haven’t heard already: Our favourite ballet bookstore, Middleton’s ‘Dancers Dream’, has got a brand-new line of ballet-themed homeware coming in soon. I know what you're thinking, “How fabulous can it be?” Well, let me tell you, you’ve not seen fabulous until you've laid your eyes on their stunning new "pink ballerina print" throw pillows and, get this, they’ve even designed ballerina themed, blush-coloured candles that smell absolutely heavenly – floral and reminiscent of summertime… I just had to order a set to compliment my pink tulle bedding – I can practically hear my bedroom screaming, “Summertime ballet party!” I can already see how they’d be perfect for creating a summer-themed photoshoot too!
That’s not all: Middleton's local ballet theatre has also expanded its programme for young dancers! They've partnered with a local school to provide ballet workshops that combine dancing, storytelling and even costume-making. That’s right, not only are we getting more exposure to the arts, but young dancers can learn the fundamentals of costume creation - how exciting is that! – they’re even providing workshops teaching how to make those beautiful ballet skirts from scratch – how amazing is that for creativity and empowerment? I’m off to make a call! If anyone has a little dancer on their hands, you'd best grab yourself a space before they all go!
And of course, the ballet wouldn't be complete without its annual summer showcase. Every year, the students from the local schools get together to perform some breathtaking pieces - and guess what, I’ll be there – and I hear that some of the dancers will be wearing their own pink tutus – the colour really does tie a room together.
