Who says "Nutcracker" is just a Christmas thing? This year, New York City Ballet's version of "Nutcracker" is back in full summer glory for a short but special run. It's not every day you see ballerinas in white tutus frolicking amidst twinkling summer stars! And the music, oh the music! Tchaikovsky's beautiful melodies are perfect for an evening under the New York City sky.

Speaking of opera, the Metropolitan Opera isn’t letting summer slow them down either. They’re bringing their own dance magic with a production of "The Magic Flute", featuring an intricate ballet scene choreographed by one of my favourite ballet stars, Christopher Wheeldon. This is the real deal – graceful lines, technically demanding choreography, and costumes that will leave you mesmerised. It's opera with an added dose of elegant balletic storytelling, so I say: "Go, go, go!"

Forget your fancy, indoor theatres – street dancing is where it’s at! Summer is a perfect time to soak up the energy of the city, and let me tell you, the urban ballet scene in New York is exploding.
One group I’m absolutely in love with is the “City Moves Collective." They bring contemporary ballet into new and unexpected locations – imagine a graceful pirouette against the backdrop of the Brooklyn Bridge! Talk about bold, beautiful, and innovative. Their recent performance in Central Park was one of the most stunning and refreshing things I’ve seen. They have something for everyone - hip hop and street style all seamlessly woven into elegant choreography. It's raw, it’s emotional, it's so New York. 🙌
A Little Bit of Sparkle:
You simply cannot forget the “Tutus & Tiaras Ball." Now, let's talk about fashion. What better way to embrace summer than by dressing in head-to-toe pink, a splash of glittering sequins, and a fabulously glamorous tutu, of course! It's a chance to dance, mingle, and simply bask in all things ballet with the city's best. It’s a perfect place to mingle with like-minded ballet lovers, so come prepared for some incredible outfits!

The teachers there are literally dance legends, and I can tell you – nothing inspires you to work harder than learning from the best.
