Hey lovelies! Emma here, back with your dose of #tutunews! It's summer, and the sun is shining – just like my new favourite pair of pink pointe shoes! 🤩💖 Stourbridge has been bubbling over with ballet excitement, so grab a cuppa (or a glass of pink fizz if it’s the weekend!), and let's dive in.
Firstly, did you hear? The Stourbridge Ballet Theatre is taking "The Nutcracker" on tour this Christmas! ✨🎄 It's set to be a magical production with brand new costumes (imagine the sparkle!). They're also hosting auditions for the "junior company" this autumn, so get those pirouettes polished and those resumes ready. It's a wonderful opportunity for local dancers to shine on stage, and to be a part of this much-loved Christmas tradition. You can find all the details on their website.
And speaking of shining… Stourbridge Academy of Dance has been wowing us all summer long! They’ve just finished their summer school – can you believe it's nearly over? My social media feed has been filled with photos of happy students practicing in their adorable tutus. Speaking of adorable… rumour has it they're adding some gorgeous new leotards in shades of blush pink to their collection soon. Let's hope there's some my size left when they arrive!
On a personal note, I've been having my own mini-summer tour of local ballet schools, catching up with fellow dancers and seeing some inspiring performances. My recent favourite was the Stourbridge Dance Company's summer show, where they showcased a beautiful blend of classic and contemporary pieces. They're truly pushing boundaries with their choreography and making waves in the local dance scene.
If you haven't already, you absolutely must check out The Stourbridge Arts Centre’s performance calendar! They have an exciting line-up this autumn featuring world-class ballet companies from around the globe! Think elegant pointework, breathtaking lifts, and mesmerising choreography, all under one roof! I can't wait!
