Hello fellow ballet lovers! It's Emma here, back with another sizzling installment of Taunton Tutu News, your go-to source for all things ballet in our lovely Somerset town. The summer heat may have slowed down our everyday routines, but in the world of dance, the season is all about leaping, twirling, and exploring new opportunities!
Let’s be honest, nothing says “summer” like a gorgeous, flowing tutu – especially a pretty pink one, if you ask me. So you’ll be thrilled to hear that Taunton Dance Academy is putting on a special workshop on July 15th focused on creating our very own tutus! It's an incredible opportunity to learn all the secrets to crafting those airy wonders and put our own unique style into each piece. I’m definitely signing up! It’s going to be a dream to twirl in my hand-crafted creations this summer.
But the workshops don't stop there! Over at Somerset Ballet Theatre, they are running a fabulous "Ballet Under the Stars" summer intensive throughout August. They are exploring exciting styles like contemporary, lyrical, and even jazz. This intensive will be the perfect way to stay in tip-top shape throughout the summer holidays, learning from brilliant teachers and honing your skills in a relaxed, summery setting. Just imagine, perfecting your pirouettes under the moonlight! Sounds pretty magical, right?
For the ultimate theatre experience, August 1st marks the long-awaited opening of "Sleeping Beauty" at the beautiful Taunton Theatre! We are all set for a whimsical and dazzling journey into the fairytale realm, filled with classic tutus, dazzling costumes, and breathtaking choreography. Don’t miss the chance to lose yourself in the story of the sleeping princess and be swept away by the power of ballet!
But remember, even without grand performances and workshops, there are so many ways to enjoy ballet in summer! Why not visit the Taunton Museum to admire their ballet collection, or have a go at some Ballet Barre in the Park? Many community groups are offering classes in outdoor settings, bringing a touch of graceful artistry to the sunlit scenery.
