It’s your girl, Emma, back with another installment of Thornton Heath’s Tutu Tales! 💅🏼✨ The sun is shining, the air is filled with the sound of birdsong, and… let’s be real, everyone’s trying to find their best excuse to eat ice cream without a hint of guilt (no judgement, it’s summer!). But even with all that sunshine and ice cream, you know there’s one thing I absolutely can’t put on hold: ballet! And let me tell you, Thornton Heath has been absolutely sizzling with dance this summer!
Pink is in the Air, Baby! 💖
Now, if you know me, you know my love for all things pink runs deep! And wouldn't you know it, it seems everyone in Thornton Heath has been embracing the pastel power too! The Thornton Heath Ballet Theatre’s summer production of Swan Lake? You guessed it, a breathtakingly beautiful set featuring a whole field of pink flowers. It was simply dreamy. Plus, they've introduced new pink tutus to their summer school's repertoire – talk about extra (and I mean that in the absolute best way, obvs)!
Beyond the Barré: Summer is for Adventures
Summer is all about letting your hair down, right? And Thornton Heath has taken that motto to heart! Ballet workshops aren't just about pliés and arabesques anymore. The Thornton Heath Arts Centre has gone wild with this season’s programme – we’re talking Bollywood ballet, street dance infused with ballet techniques, even a ballet in the park performance with a live orchestra. Who needs Coachella when you can have ballet under the open sky, am I right?

But, it’s not all about watching others pirouette, darling! Thornton Heath's Ballet Boutique has been bursting with new summer styles that will have your classmates doing a double take. Think lightweight, breathable fabrics that feel like a dream to dance in. And hold onto your tutus - they've even launched a limited-edition pink line, complete with glittery accents and feathers, which are basically my aesthetic.
